Possible Super Bowl LIV Betting Matchups

Possible Super Bowl LIV Betting Matchups

The New England Patriots have appeared in 11 Super Bowls, including three in a row and four out of five, so on the AFC side of the NFL’s playoff bracket, they are taking a great deal of the suspense out of which team will emerge to play in the most watched event in all of professional sport. Even so, one fun way for sports betting enthusiasts to put down money on futures wagers involves picking the matchups for the Super Bowl each season…before the first game is even played. We have the Super Bowl LIV odds for several potential matchups that could unfold at next year’s title game.

Possible Super Bowl LIV Betting Matchups

Chicago Bears vs Kansas City Chiefs

  • Super Bowl LIV Odds: +3700
This would be an old-school matchup, featuring one of the league’s original teams with a team that was strong in the old AFL but has gone through decades of mediocrity before the arrival of Andy Reid and, most importantly, Patrick Mahomes II. Kicker Cody Parkey doinked a game-winning field goal off the upright in the Bears’ shocking first-round loss to Philadelphia in the playoffs last year, but the Bears bring that ferocious offense back. The questions for the Bears come on offense, as Mitch Trubisky was only able to lead Chicago to 15 points in that loss. The Chiefs also have some questions to answer, but they got safety Tyrann Mathieu and pass rusher Frank Clark in the off-season, and despite losing Kareem Hunt and possibly Tyreek Hill, they still have a video-game style offense. I see the Chiefs making the Super Bowl more easily than the Bears, but this would be an intriguing matchup.

Dallas Cowboys vs Pittsburgh Steelers

This is another old-school matchup that we saw twice in the 1970s and then once again in Super Bowl XXX. Dallas’ offense seemed to take off now and then in 2018, and they came close to beating the Rams on the road in the divisional playoff, despite the fact that the Rams knew what stunts the Dallas defensive line would run on the basis of their positioning and signals. Dallas has a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore — and could face a holdout from Ezekiel Elliott in training camp, or perhaps even longer. The Steelers still have Ben Roethlisberger, but their defense is absolutely porous — and they have a threat in their own division from both Baltimore and Cleveland. Big Ben has the same big arm, but can he get the ball down the field without Antonio Brown?

L.A. Rams vs Kansas City Chiefs

  • Super Bowl LIV Odds: +2000
It looked like we might see this game in Super Bowl LIII, until the Chiefs folded at home against New England in the AFC Championship. In the 2018 regular season, the Rams and Chiefs combined to score 105 points, and the Chiefs became the first team in NFL history to score 50 or more points in a game and still lose. Both teams have kept their solid offenses — and added to their defenses. So this isn’t bad value — if you think the Chiefs can deal with New England this time.

Atlanta Falcons vs New England Patriots

  • Super Bowl LIV Odds: +6700
This would be a rematch from the Falcons’ historic collapse in Super Bowl LI, when they turned 28-3 lead into an overtime loss. On paper, the Falcons look stacked, with Matt Ryan, Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu leading a great passing game and Devonta Freeman ready to carry the ball. However, the Falcons’ defense, despite its youth and speed, remains a question mark. Can the Patriots make it back to the Super Bowl? Never, ever count them out.
