If you are looking for a great set of fights at the MMA developmental level, then there is a fantastic event coming your way on Friday night. LFA 237 will be held in Wisconsin, with the main card set to begin at 9 PM EST. This is one of the best organizations to watch if you are looking to see up-and-coming fighters, so you can check this one out on Vice TV, with the preliminary bouts available on YouTube. Of course, the best way to add even more excitement to the event is by betting on the LFA fights. With all that said, let’s get to the top five fights on the card, with predictions for each.

Top Upcoming LFA Events: LFA 237 Preview

LFA 237 is set to take place Friday night in Wisconsin, with the main card beginning at 9 PM EST on Vice TV. Fans can also watch the preliminary bouts on YouTube before the main card begins. The event features five intriguing matchups, including several rising prospects who may eventually earn opportunities with larger MMA promotions.

LFA 237 Main Card

Fight Division / Note
Luis Verdinez vs. Canaan Hayes Main Card Opener
Joey Hart vs. James Martin Welterweight
Dylan Diebitz vs. Preston LaGrange Middleweight
Kegan Gennrich vs. Jose Mendez Co-Main Event
Carlos Tardio vs. Mackson Lee Main Event

Luis Verdinez (8-2) vs. Canaan Hayes (8-2)

While this bout may not have the allure of those coming later in the evening, it is a solid matchup to get the main card rolling. Both fighters enter with identical 8-2 records, creating the sense that this could be a very evenly matched contest.

Verdinez is likely to try to force the issue, as he tends to be an aggressive fighter. That approach, however, might play directly into the hands of Hayes, who tends to be very effective when counterpunching. I think it is more than likely that this bout will go the full three rounds. While it should be close, I am taking Hayes to earn the decision win.

At-a-Glance

  • Records: Verdinez (8-2) | Hayes (8-2)
  • Style matchup: Verdinez brings aggression, while Hayes is effective as a counterpuncher
  • Prediction note: The fight is likely to go the full three rounds
  • Pick: Canaan Hayes by decision

Joey Hart (8-4) vs. James Martin (5-0)

This Welterweight bout is intriguing, as it offers a classic matchup between experience and up-and-coming talent. Hart definitely has more experience inside the cage, but his downfall is that he has struggled to maintain any level of consistency during his time as a professional.

Martin has made a great start to his professional career, winning each of his first five fights. The competition is going to get progressively tougher with each passing bout, though, and Hart represents another important test. If Martin can stay out of trouble and avoid being drawn into a chaotic fight, he should be able to earn the decision victory.

At-a-Glance

  • Records: Hart (8-4) | Martin (5-0)
  • Experience note: Hart has more professional experience, but he has struggled with consistency
  • Prospect note: Martin has won the first five fights of his professional career
  • Pick: James Martin by decision

Dylan Diebitz (6-2) vs. Preston LaGrange (5-1)

Next up on the main card is a Middleweight bout between a pair of fighters who have the ability to be explosive. That may initially appear to favor Diebitz, who is an aggressive fighter and is almost always looking to stay on the offensive.

That said, LaGrange is probably the better technical fighter of the two, so he may be able to identify and exploit openings created by his opponent’s attacks. While both fighters possess finishing power, I like this one to go the distance, with LaGrange doing enough to edge the decision.

At-a-Glance

  • Records: Diebitz (6-2) | LaGrange (5-1)
  • Style matchup: Diebitz brings aggression, while LaGrange appears to have the technical advantage
  • Prediction note: Both fighters have finishing power, but the bout may go the distance
  • Pick: Preston LaGrange by decision

Kegan Gennrich (11-5) vs. Jose Mendez (9-1)

The co-main event of the night has the potential to go down as the Fight of the Night, with an experienced veteran once again going against a young and hungry fighter. Gennrich has seen just about everything during his professional career and has shown that he can handle a variety of fighting styles.

Mendez is going to be an absolute handful, though, as he is younger and explosive in attack. Gennrich will need to find a way to slow his opponent down and prevent him from establishing an early rhythm. I am not convinced he will be able to do that for long, which is why I think Mendez gets the KO win.

At-a-Glance

  • Records: Gennrich (11-5) | Mendez (9-1)
  • Experience note: Gennrich is the more experienced professional
  • Prospect note: Mendez brings youth, speed and explosive attacking ability
  • Pick: Jose Mendez by KO

Carlos Tardio (12-2) vs. Mackson Lee (9-1)

This is a worthy main event, as it features a pair of top prospects who could potentially end up in the UFC. Lee’s lone professional loss came on Dana White’s Contender Series, so he has already competed against a high level of opposition.

Tardio might not be as flashy or have the same resume as Lee, but he has quietly established himself as a fantastic prospect. I have a feeling that Lee is going to come out with all guns blazing, but Tardio should be able to handle that early pressure and slow the fight to a more manageable pace.

In the end, though, I think Lee will land the more meaningful offense and do enough across the full fight to earn the decision win.

At-a-Glance

  • Records: Tardio (12-2) | Lee (9-1)
  • Experience note: Lee’s lone professional loss came on Dana White’s Contender Series
  • Matchup note: Tardio may attempt to absorb Lee’s early pressure and slow the pace
  • Pick: Mackson Lee by decision
