NFC East Mock Draft For 2020

NFC East Mock Draft For 2020

Written by on April 21, 2020

The NFC East could be one of the most interesting divisions in the league in 2020 — and it could also be one of the most ridiculous, as it was in 2019. The Dallas Cowboys opted not to re-sign head coach Jason Garrett, instead bringing in Mike McCarthy to lead the team. However, Jerry Jones still has not signed quarterback Dak Prescott to an extension, so there could be drama heading into training camp…assuming that there is training camp at the normal time this year. Philadelphia bolstered their defense with Darius Slay, but their offense remains a question mark. The New York Giants have the fourth overall pick, but will GM Dave Gettelman mess this situation up as well? Washington will come back with Dwayne Haskins at quarterback after a promising start. If you’re planning on including NFL futures in your sports betting odds, take a look at our thoughts on the NFC East in the draft.

NFC East Mock Draft For 2020

Dallas Cowboys

Draft Picks Available
  • 1st round (17th overall)
  • 2nd (51)
  • 3rd (82)
  • 4th (123)
  • 5th (164)
  • 5th (179)
  • 7th (231)
Glaring Needs

Dallas has gaping holes in their secondary. Cornerback Byron Jones left via free agency, and Dallas does not have a player of his caliber to step up. The Cowboys went to the bargain basement to add some bodies, but they need a top talent. They also have problems at safety. Jeff Heath has moved on to Las Vegas, and they have never prioritized safety in the NFL draft. Dallas did add HaHa Clinton-Dix, but that’s a one-year band-aid.

Possibilities: C.J. Henderson (Florida), Trevon Diggs (Alabama), Xavier McKinney (Alabama)

The Dallas defensive line added Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy via free agency, but they lost Maliek Collins to Las Vegas. They need some depth in the middle, and they also need to add a name or two for the upcoming seasons.

Possibilities: Javon Kinlaw (South Carolina), K’Lavon Chaisson (LSU)

At wide receiver, Dallas has Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup, but they need slot talent, and they need better depth than Cedrick Wilson and Noah Brown, especially since both of those players have been hurt for a lot of thel ast two seasons. The team is even thinking about bringing Dez Bryant back off the couch, but hopefully they find what they need in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Possibility: Henry Ruggs III (Alabama), James Proche (SMU)

New York Giants

Draft Picks Available
  • 1st round (fourth overall)
  • 2nd (36)
  • 3rd (99)
  • 4th (110)
  • 5th (150)
  • 6th (183)
  • 7th (218)
  • 7th (238)
  • 7th (247)
  • 7th (255)
Glaring Needs

The Giants need to bring in some talent at the edge rusher position. Chase Young could still be there at the fourth pick, and they should jump on him and his transcendent talent if he is.

Possibility: Chase Young (Ohio State)

Right now, the starting quarterback for the Giants is Daniel Jones — who took 38 sacks last year. The Giants signed Cameron Fleming as a swing tackle, but they need a better option at offensive tackle to protect Jones from the pass rush.

Possibilities: Tristan Wirfs (Iowa), Jedrick Wills (Alabama), Mekhi Becton (Louisville)

The Giants could also use some help at linebacker. They have a pair of solid players in the middle, with David Mayo and Blake Martinez, but they could add an outside linebacker.

Possibility: Isaiah Simmons (Clemson)

Philadelphia Eagles

Draft Picks Available
  • 1st round (21st overall)
  • 2nd (53)
  • 3rd (103)
  • 4th (127)
  • 4th (145)
  • 4th (146)
  • 5th (168)
  • 6th (190)
Glaring Needs

The Eagles’ biggest need is at wide receiver. Alshon Jeffery is returning from foot surgery, and Nelson Agholor has left town via free agency. DeSean Jackson is back in town, but he’s on the back side of his career. This is a draft class that is packed with wide receivers, so this is a good year to have that need.

Possibilities: Tee Higgins (Clemson), Henry Ruggs III (Alabama), Justin Jefferson (LSU)

On the defensive side of the ball, Philadelphia has needs at both safety and cornerback. Malcolm Jenkins left via free agency to New Orleans, so the Eagles need someone alongside Rodney McLeod, particularly one who can generate turnovers. At cornerback, the EAgles lost Ronald Darby and could use another starter-quality player.

Possibilities: Xavier McKinney (Alabama), C.J. Henderson (Florida), Trevon Diggs (Alabama)

Washington Redskins

Draft Picks Available
  • 1st round (2nd overall)
  • 3rd (66)
  • 4th (108)
  • 4th (142)
  • 5th (148)
  • 7th (216)
  • 7th (229)
Glaring Needs

The Redskins need another wide receiver to complement Terry McLaurin, who came on last year as a terrific talent in his rookie season last year.

Possibilities: CeeDee Lamb (Oklahoma), Jerry Jeudy (Alabama)

With a second-year quarterback in Dwayne Haskins, the Redskins need an offensive tackle to protect him and keep him from having to run for his life. Cornelius Lucas came in via free agency, but he has now been with five teams since 2014, so he’s a gamble.

Possibilities: Tristan Wirfs (Iowa), Jedrick Wills (Alabama)

Montez Sweat and Ryan Kerrigan have been the Redskins’ pass rush tandem, but Kerrigan had his lowest sack production in his entire career last year, so it’s time for some young blood. Chase Young is the obvious pick here, unless Washington trades down.

Possibility: Chase Young (Ohio State)
