Before you go laying down a ton of money on these picks, particularly after Joe Burrow, remember that there were 40 trades during the 2019 draft — including six during the first round. Trades have already taken place that have left Pittsburgh, Houston, Indianapolis, Chicago, Buffalo and the Rams out of the first round of the 2020 NFL draft. Miami, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Jacksonville and Minnesota all have multiple picks in the first round — and Miami has three. So there’s really no excuse for Miami not to come away from the first round with some major improvements.

What else could happen? Some rumors include the Las Vegas Raiders trading either up or down. They have picks 12 and 19 right now, as well as three picks in the third round. If Isaiah Simmons or Derrick Brown starts to slide down the board a little bit, they could go up a pick or two and try to get one of them. Those third-round picks could make a nice package to swap for a second-round pick, if they want to go after a mid-tier quarterback such as Jalen Hurts. Mike Mayock did well at the draft last year, so there’s no reason to suggest he won’t do it again this time around.

The New York Giants could trade down. Dave Gettleman showed that he can mishandle prosperity as well as anyone (well, maybe with the exception of Bill O’Brien). Miami and the Chargers could use a quarterback, and they are right behind the G-men — and Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa will be attractive. Jacksonville and Las Vegas have a pair of first-round picks that they could package to swap for that fourth slot.
