NFL Week 11: New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

NFL Week 11: New Orleans Saints at Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview

Written by on November 19, 2021

The New Orleans Saints (5-4) come to Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday in second place in the NFC South, just one game back of division-leading Tampa Bay. Given that the Saints have already beaten Tampa Bay once, they have a leg up in a potential tiebreaker at this point. However, the Saints have dropped two in a row, falling to Atlanta and then Tennessee. Their record is impressive given that backup quarterback Trevor Siemian has led the offense for the last 2+ games, but the team needs a win to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Eagles (4-6) are also in second place in their division, but they trail the Dallas Cowboys by 3 ½ games. They made a huge statement with a 30-13 road win over the Denver Broncos last week, getting 178 yards and two scores from Jalen Hurts and 83 rushing yards out of Jordan Howard.

Can the Eagles continue their growth with Jalen Hurts, or will the Saints pick up the road upset? Don’t miss our online NFL betting preview.

Why should you bet on the Saints?

New Orleans still hangs with opponents because of its defense, which ranks seventh in the NFL in points permitted (19.8). They also have the tenth ranked overall defense, permitting 337.8 yards per game (72.9 on the ground and 264.9 through the air). Demario Davis leads the defense with 65 tackles, and safety Malcolm Jenkins has stacked up 53. Tanoh Kpassagnon and Marcus Davenport each have four sacks, and P.J. Williams leads the team with three interceptions.

On offense, the Saints are scoring 24.7 points per game; their running game picks up 118.9 yards per game, but the passing game could use some help, as they only throw for 202.2 yards per game, good for 31st in the league. Trevor Siemian took some strides last week, though, throwing for 298 yards in the close loss. Tailback Alvin Kamara leads the team with 530 yards and three scores, and Deonte Harris is the top receiver with 24 catches for 407 yards and two scores. If you like the Saints, you see their defense getting the Eagles off the field quickly and their offense generating long scoring drives.

Why should you put your money on the Eagles?

The Eagles are also improving in large part thanks to their defense. For the season, they have permitted 23.1 points per game, but the last three games have seen an average of just 15.3, and the Eagles have gone 2-1 in that stretch. The team is 14th in total defense for the season, permitting 350.6 yards per game. Linebacker Alex Singleton is tops on the team with 83 tackles, and Javon Hargrave has six sacks to lead the team. Darius Slay leads the secondary with a pair of interceptions.

The Eagles run for 144.5 yards per game, third in the NFL. Their passing game is just 27th, picking up 205.6 yards per contest. Jalen Hurts has a 13:5 TD:INT ratio, with 2,159 yards through the air. He also leads the team in rushing with 549 yards on the ground and vive scores. DeVonta Smith leads the Eagles with 42 catches for 603 yards and four scores. If you like the Eagles, you see Hurts using his legs to extend plays and keep drives moving.

Final Score and Betting Prediction

I think that teams are catching up with Trevor Siemian now like they did when he was in Denver — and I think Philadelphia is starting to pick up steam on both sides of the ball. I predict a final score of Philadelphia 17, New Orleans 13.
