NFL Week 11: N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview

NFL Week 11: N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview

Written by on November 19, 2021

The New York Giants (3-6) come out of their bye in Tampa Bay as they face the Buccaneers (6-3) on Monday Night Football. The Giants have actually come to life a bit, winning two of their last three games — and only losing to Kansas City at Arrowhead by three points in between. The possible return of Saquon Barkley to the offense would give the Giants a bit of balance, taking some of the pressure off Daniel Jones. The Giants’ defense, which has been overwhelmed in games because the offense simply was not generating enough time of possession, has stiffened a bit as well. The Buccaneers had won four in a row before dropping their last two. This included a 36-27 loss in New Orleans that saw the Bucs turn the ball over too many times — and saw the defense struggle to contain the Saints’ offense. Last week, the Buccaneers came out of the bye in Washington but got shut down by the Football Team, as Taylor Heinicke was able to lead Washington on a number of sustained drives, and two early Tom Brady interceptions let Washington take a lead that it would not relinquish.

We have some NFL betting advice about this prime time NFC matchup.

NFL Preview: N.Y. Giants at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Monday, November 22)

When: Monday, November 22, 2021, 8:15 pm ET
Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa
TV: ESPN
Radio: Westwood One
Live Stream: Hulu
NFL Odds: Tampa Bay -11 / O/U 49.5 // New York +400 / Tampa Bay -550

Why should you bet on the Giants?

You’ll want to check the latest injury reports for the status of Saquon Barkley. Devontae Booker has definitely turned back the clock while filling in at tailback, but he’s no Barkley. Also, the Giants’ wide receivers are all dealing with varying degrees of injury, which makes things tougher on Daniel Jones. He has struggled with ball security, with fumbles and interceptions costing the Giants at key times.

It’s interesting to note that New York is 5-3 against the spread when coming in as an underdog. This is partially due to the fact that there really aren’t any dominant teams in the NFL this year; it also has to do with the tough-nosed Giant defense. On the offensive side of the ball, Kadarius Toney has emerged during his rookie season as a tough receiver to stop; his yards after catch have been phenomenal as he can stop and cut on a dime.

Why should you put your money on the Buccaneers?

The Giants will look to establish the run first, especially if Barkley is back, but the Buccaneers defend the run better than they defend the pass. That should lead to some long third downs for the Giants early, which will allow the Bucs to dial up blitzes and force Jones into some poor decisions.

On the offensive side of the ball, Tom Brady has to be better with ball security. He has turned over the ball five times in the team’s last two games. His two picks against Washington allowed the Football Team to jump out to an early lead. Brady was able to bring the team back to 23-19 early in the fourth quarter, but then the fatigued defense could not get Washington off the field. Chris Godwin was playing hurt, and both Antonio Brown and Rob Gronkowski were out, so Brady had fewer options than usual.

Final Score and Betting Prediction

Did you know that this 3-6 record is the best nine-game start for the G-men since the 2016 season? That’s a rough patch for this fan base. They run into Tampa Bay at just the wrong time, as I expect Brady to come out with a giant chip on his shoulder and get his game back where it needs to be. I predict a final score of Tampa Bay 34, New York 20.
