KSW Next Events
In the world of MMA, there always seems to be at least one big event on the calendar every single weekend. If you are focusing on a single organization outside of the UFC, though, you sometimes need to wait a minute for the next big one to roll around.
Between now and the end of the year, KSW has three major events coming our way. The first is set for October 10, with KSW 122 headlining the schedule. The next two major events are scheduled for November 21 and December 19, respectively.
We will get into more detail on those events closer to the time, but for now, let’s take a look at the four bouts currently scheduled for KSW 122.
Marian Ziolkowski Vs Wilson Varela
We get things rolling with a bout between a pair of highly ranked Lightweight fighters in what looks to be a pretty evenly matched fight.
Ziolkowski is trying to find his way back to form, winning last time out after a three-fight losing streak. That streak means that he is now 26-11-1 overall. He will go against Varela, who is still actively trying to get back to winning ways after losing each of his last two fights.
I think Ziolkowski takes advantage of a struggling fighter and gets the win via decision.
Mateusz Makarowski Vs Adam Soldaev
We have another good one up next, as we once again have a pair of fighters who seem to be on a very similar level.
Makarowski comes into this bout on a very nice run of form, winning each of his last three fights, with two of those wins coming inside the distance. He is 14-7-1 overall.
Soldaev will be looking to bounce back after losing last time out and seeing a three-fight win streak come to an end, dropping him to 10-3. I like Soldaev to find his way back with a win, although he may need to go the decision route to get it.
Laid Zerhouni Vs Andrzej Grzebyk
This one is the co-main event of the night, and you have to say that it features a pair of fighters who could really use a win.
Zerhouni has been up and down his whole career as a pro, posting a 15-10 record, and he comes into this one on the heels of a loss.
Things are even worse, though, for Grzebyk, who is coming into this one on a three-fight losing streak that has dropped his overall record to 22-9. You get the sense that at almost 36 years of age, time may be catching up to Grzebyk, so I am on Zerhouni for the win.
Vitali Yakymenko Vs Marcello Morelli
We close the night out with a title fight, with Yakymenko defending his Bantamweight belt against Morelli.
The champion got to this level quite quickly, posting an 11-2 record as a pro and delivering four wins in his last five fights, including victories in each of his last two.
Morelli has discovered a good level of consistency, also winning four of his last five fights to move to 8-4 overall. I think we will almost certainly see this bout go the distance, but I also believe that the champion will prevail.
