MLB Betting Preview for the 2021 All-Star Game

MLB Betting Preview for the 2021 All-Star Game

Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game returns for 2021, after the game was one of many sports betting casualties from last year’s COVID-19 pandemic. The National League is the favorite to win (although just slightly) as the game is set for Denver’s Coors Field on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7:30 pm Eastern time. Kevin Cash of Tampa Bay will manage the American League, while Dave Roberts of the L.A. Dodgers will manage the National League.

The American League has a seven-game winning streak going in the series — and has won 25 of the past 32. Let’s take a closer look at this year’s MLB matchup.

Injuries and a desire for rest have led to a number of replacements on both rosters. Omar Narvaez and Manny Machado are just the latest additions to ath list. Other replacements have included Taijuan Walker, Freddy Perlaota, Max Scherzer, Justin Turner and Walker Buehler in the National League, along with Chris Bassitt, Joey Wendle, Whit Merrifield and Tim Anderson in the American League.

The Dodgers, Padres and Brewers each had five players named to the rosters (including starters and reserves), and then the Blue Jays, Nationals, White Sox and Astros were next with four apiece. The Orioles, Tigers, Twins, Mariners, Marlins, Rockies and Diamondbacks only sent one player each, but oftentimes it is those sole representatives that end up breaking out in heroics at the Midsummer Classic.

It’s difficult to handicap an exhibition game like this one, but the All-Star game is competitive. Coors Field, despite the more distant fences, is a hitters’ stadium, which gives the edge to the American League. The National League has the better pitching staff, but given the short hooks that managers have in this game — and given the fact that each lineup will be stacked with stars at the plate, you have to go with the better offense.

Final Prediction:
AL 6, NL 4
