PGA 2019 3M Open Odds & Betting Preview

The TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota is the site for this week’s stop on the PGA Tour. The field has a full 156 golfers, and the top 70 and ties will go through to the weekend after the first 36 holes. The course runs 7,468 yards and is a par 71. There are 74 bunkers and 27 water hazards all over the course, with water in play on over half the holes. However, the landing areas are fairly spacious by PGA Tour standards, and there are not a lot of trees, which means that the scoring could be low. The greens have an average area of 6,500 square feet, which is about the average for the PGA Tour. They have bentgrass with a true roll. We have your golf odds for the contenders as well as suggestions for your wager cards.

Hideki Matsuyama

Matsuyama has 11 top-25 finishes in his last 14 events and finished at -15 for the tournament in Detroit this past weekend. He has made every cut since the 2018 British Open, and for 2019, he ranks #10 in birdie average and #22 in greens in regulation percentage on the tour. He is still looking for his first win in 2019, but given the thin field here (except for Koepka, of course), it’s hard to argue against him with this value.

Patrick Reed

Reed cracked the top five this past weekend in Detroit, rolling to a -17 score. This was his best performance since early in 2018, and with the British Open coming up, this tournament gives him a chance to hone his game further. The last time he made it into the top ten, he did the same thing the next two weeks. He offers a ton of value given the promise that is there.

Tony Finau

Finau was the runner-up at the Charles Schwab Challenge…and has missed three cuts since. Remember, last year, he was in a funk before he came in second at the Genesis Open. He has played on the TPC Twin Cities several times and has relatives in the area. So given the value that he offers, it’s worth betting on his bouncing back.

Viktor Hovland

Hovland came in -15 last week, cracking the top 15, giving him two top-20 finishes in his last three tournaments. His ball striking has been impressive, and he will not be available at this value if he keeps creeping up the leaderboard on Sundays.

Keegan Bradley

Bradley has alternated missing and making cuts since he made it at the Masters and in New Orleans. However, his last tournament was quite good, as he was the runner-up at the Travelers Championship. He is a feast or famine golfer, but if he can get out to a solid beginning, he could roll all the way to his first win since 2018, when he took the BMW Championship.

Brooks Koepka

Koepka is the favorite but has not cracked the top 40 in either of his last two non-major tournaments. He did win at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges, back during the Asian phase of the season. He could turn things back on and run away with this one, given that he is by far the top golfer in the field this weekend.
