XFL Week 8 Betting Odds & Lines: Must Bet Games for Weekend

Week 7 in the XFL’s 2023 regular season produced plenty of excitement. The Orlando Guardians secured a mammoth upset, beating the D.C. Defenders, 37-36, to get their first victory and give D.C. their first setback. Orlando won despite coming in as 9 ½-point underdogs and are now 4-3 against the spread. In Week 7, the sports betting favorites went just 2-2 against the spread and 2-2 against the moneyline. Week 8 starts Saturday at 1:00 pm ET, as the Vegas Vipers and the St. Louis Battlehawks tangle on ESPN. Then the Arlington Renegades take on the Guardians down in Florida. Sunday’s games feature the Houston Roughnecks trying to end a three-game skid when they take on the San Antonio Brahmas. The weekend’s action winds up with Seattle hosting D.C. Don’t miss our XFL betting picks for each game.

XFL Betting Analysis and Prediction: Week 8 | XFL Lines

Saturday, April 8

Vegas Vipers (+7.5) at St. Louis Battlehawks (O/U 46.5)

Vegas +240 / St. Louis -300

1:00 pm ET, ESPN | Last week, Vegas took down San Antonio, 26-12, in one of their most complete offensive games of the season. Quarterback Jalan McClendon made his XFL debut and went 21 of 31 for 264 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also ran for 25 yards. St. Louis beat Houston last week, giving the Roughnecks three straight setbacks.

These teams met a couple of weeks ago, and St. Louis quarterback A.J. McCarron feasted on the Vegas defense, going 23 of 29 for 236 yards and three scores. Neither Brett Hundley nor Luis Perez could get anything going on offense for the Vipers, as Perez threw two interceptions and the Battlehawks notched four sacks. With McClendon at the helm, though, the Vipers should be more dangerous, as wide receiver Jeff Badet should be back from a thigh injury. Even so, the Battlehawks are 5-2 against the spread and have a dynamic offense of their own. St. Louis to win and cover.

Arlington Renegades (+1.5) at Orlando Guardians (O/U 42.5)

Arlington +100 / Orlando -120

4:00 pm ET, ESPN | The Guardians are slight favorites to win this week even though they are just 1-6 on the season. Having Quinten Dormandy at quarterback seems to have solved some problems, as he went 27 of 34 for 328 yards and three scores in the win over D.C. He also ran for three touchdowns. Arlington has Luis Perez now, who came over from Vegas, and they also added Kelly Bryant, who played for both Missouri and Clemson. The offensive line has not done well for Arlington this season, and their defense, which only allows 17.9 points per game, will need to stand tall. Orlando to win and cover.

Sunday, April 9

Houston Roughnecks (-5.5) at San Antonio Brahmas (O/U 40.5)

Houston -200 / San Antonio +165

3:00 pm ET, ABC | Houston did not have starting quarterback Brandon Silvers or linebacker Tim Ward in their loss to St. Louis last week. Cole McDonald went just 15 of 32 for 106 yards, with a touchdown and an interception, and he also ran for 40 yards on eight attempts. Without Jontre’ Kirklin, the Houston offense has fallen apart. Cedric Byrd did catch seven passes for 50 yards, but that wasn’t enough to get the win.

Houston is looking to get Silvers back; the Brahmas are down to Jack Coan at quarterback as Kurt Benkert fractured some ribs in their loss last week. He’s out for the season, so the team has also added Paxton Lynch, who started the year with Orlando. With this offense in chaos, the Roughnecks should roll. Houston to win and cover.

D.C. Defenders (+1.5) at Seattle Sea Dragons (O/U 46.5)

D.C. +105 / Seattle -125

Seattle welcomes D.C. while riding a five-game winning streak, while the Defenders look to bounce back from their first loss of the season. The Defenders had a shot to win the game with a 63-yard field goal, but kicker Matthew McCrane missed what would have been a miraculous kick. The Defenders did not defend at all last week, not forcing Quentin Dormandy to make any turnovers. Seattle has scored 23.2 points per game in their winning streak, and they just added former NFL tailback Phillip Lindsey, adding explosiveness to the offense. Seattle to win and cover.
