College Football Odds: What to expect of the 2023/24 Season

Going into the 2023-24 college basketball season, one of the more interesting stories has been the latest revival of Rick Pitino to coach the St. John’s Red Storm. No controversy seems to be heady enough to consign Pitino to the coaching dustbin, since he has won in the past and can use that track record to recruit. St. John’s dumped Mike Anderson and brought in Pitino, and the transfer portal has brought the Red Storm a bonanza, with Chris Ledlum, a first-team All-Ivy League performer, just the latest to come play for Pitino. Can St. John’s make the Big Dance? We will see. Read on to get some other tidbits about the upcoming season that may influence your College Football Odds.

College Football Odds: Early Impressions of the 2023-24 Season | Bet NCAA Football Betting Lines

Kansas looks like the team to beat

Kevin McCullar Jr returns, and Hunter Dickinson is transferring in from Michigan to make the Jayhawks even tougher. KJ Adams Jr and Dajuan Harris Jr bring elite defense.

College Football Odds | Duke is ready to return to elite status

Kyle Filipowski is back to patrol the paint after opting out of the last NBA draft. He could play his way into a lottery pick by the next draft. Tyrese Proctor and Mark Mitchell also return, and Jeremy Roach is a steady hand on the point. Jared McCain comes to Duke and will knock down a ton of shots from the wing.

Zach Edey is going back to Purdue

Edey won last year’s Wooden Award and was the most dominant college basketball player a year ago. In fact, all five starters return for a team that won the Big Ten regular-season and tournament titles before crashing out of March Madness early. Can we trust the Boilermakers to make a deep run this time?

Tom Izzo will hit 700 wins this year

This isn’t a betting prop – it’s a lock, as he is just 14 victories away. Malik Hall and Tyson Walker decided to return, and Izzo has five-star recruits Jeremy Fears, Coen Carr, and Xavier Booker coming to work with a backcourt that is already elite.

College Football Odds | Connecticut could defend that title

Tristen Newton returns to meet four ESPN 100 prospects that came in this recruiting class. Donovan Clingan should dominate around the rim, and Cam Spencer has transferred in from Rutgers to give the Huskies more sharpshooting.

Is Houston still overrated?

Yes, the Cougars rolled through their AAC slate, but their non-conference competition was unimpressive. L.J. Cryer and Damian Dunn are two of the top guards who entered the transfer portal, and they’re joining Kelvin Sampson in Houston, but it’s still hard to see Houston as a title contender.

Marquette has elite guard Tyler Kolek returning and should make noise in the Big East, if not win the whole thing. Creighton might have something to say about that, as Ryan Kalkbrenner, Trey Alexander, and Baylor Scheierman all pulled their names out of the draft to make another run. Gonzaga got Anton Watson back to control the lane, and Mark Few brought in three other blue-chip transfers. Tennessee should benefit from the continuing growth of Josiah-Jordan James.

Kentucky brought in D.J. Wagner and Justin Edwards, two of the top four recruits in the nation, as well as three other players who rank in the top 40. Miami (FL) saw Norchad Omier and Nijel Pack come back to campus after checking out the interest that NBA teams have in them. Texas A&M has Wade Taylor IV at the point, which should make a significant difference.
