Top NCAA Basketball in the Bracket
It’s a great time of year to be a college basketball fan, as we have not just one, but two major tournaments currently in full swing. Of course, it is March Madness that is getting the majority of the headlines, as well as the betting money, but the NIT is also a great tournament to watch and wager on. Both tournaments are heading into the latter stages, so now feels like the perfect time to look ahead to see if we can predict how things might play out.
Besides looking at the potential champions in both tournaments, we will also look at the Final Four, so let’s begin with the NIT.
The NIT Tournament Predictions
The NIT Tournament has pretty much played out as expected, with 3 of the 4 #1 seeds still alive and well. I would not be stunned to see a pair of the top seeds meeting in the final, but which two will it be?
On one side, Auburn looks to be the class team and the one to beat. They have Nevada up next, and then either Illinois State or Dayton in the Final Four. I like their chances against all of these teams, so I have Auburn going all the way.
On the other side of the bracket, Tulsa has already punched their ticket into the Final Four, where I believe they will be joined by New Mexico. I have the Lobos going to the final to face Auburn.
From the very start, I thought Auburn was the team to beat and I am going to stand by that and pick them to end the season as NIT champions.
March Madness Tournament Predictions
In March Madness, we are into the Sweet 16, so there are probably still some surprises laying in wait to kill any bracket. Yesterday, I made my picks for this round, and while I am not a huge fan of constantly playing the chalk, I went with all the favorites to move on. If it does indeed play out that way, then the next thing to look at would be the Elite 8.
I am not really a fan of doing this until I see how things play out. After all, you never know if there are going to be injuries or other issues that might derail a team moving forward. Still, for the purposes of this piece, I am going to go ahead and try to predict the remainder of the tournament, keeping in mind that I might have a change of opinion as things play out.
If the Sweet 16 plays out as predicted, then I think the teams we see come out of the Elite 8 will be Duke, Houston, Arizona, and Michigan.
This seems like the obvious pick given the seeding, but let’s be honest in saying that the #1 and #2 seeds are who usually make it to this point. Yes, you get Cinderella teams in the early rounds, but the cream tends to find a way to rise to the top.
For the National Championship Game, I am going to take Duke to face Michigan, and I believe it will be the Wolverines who eventually cut down the nets.
