Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – November 4th Edition

The Dallas Mavericks are 3-0 on the road for the first time since 2011 — but they are just 1-2 at home, so they need to figure out how to close out games. They gave up late rallies to Portland and to the Lakers to lose two razor-thin contests at the American Airlines Center. The Phoenix Suns are also off to a surprisingly strong start, at 4-2, while Golden State looks in trouble with just a 1-5 record. In the East, the Philadelphia 76ers have roared out to a 5-0 start to the young season. Miami is a pleasant surprise at 5-3, while the Cavaliers, Bulls and Knicks have already started to settle to the bottom of the standings. Are you going to bet on basketball action this week? Don’t miss our top two NBA betting picks.

Boston at Cleveland (7:00 pm ET)

There was a time when this was an epic rivalry, but that was when Lebron James and Kyrie Irving still played in Cleveland, and Isaiah Thomas still ran the point in Boston. The Celtics look strong so far this year, having run off a four-game winning streak since their loss in the opener to Philadelphia. Wins over Toronto and the Knicks are not that impressive, but that win over Milwaukee was a nice victory. Their last action came on Friday, when they beat the Knicks on a Jayson Tatum buzzer-beater, 104-102. That gave him 24 points on the night, but the team leader was Kemba Walker, with 33 points (Including 23 after halftime). Gordon Hayward put up 13 points and nine rebounds. The Cleveland Cavaliers are still rebuilding in the post-King James era, and they sit at 2-4 currently. They have a two-game losing streak, falling in Indiana and then at home to the Mavericks. Dallas went to the Q and beat Cleveland by 20, 131-111, behind a triple-double from Luka Doncic. Kevin Love led Cleveland with a season-best 29 points and pulled down eight boards. Jordan Clarkson put up 17 points, and Tristan Thompson had a double-double with 11 points and a dozen boards. The issues on Cleveland center on defense right now — can they stop the Celtics? NBA Betting Prediction: Boston 108, Cleveland 99

L.A. Lakers at Chicago (8:00 pm ET, NBA TV)

The Lakers are now 5-1, with a five-game winning streak following their loss in the opener to the Clippers. Their most recent win came Sunday night when they beat the Spurs down in San Antonio, 103-96. Anthony Davis put up 25 points and 11 rebounds, and Lebron James had a triple-double with 21 points, 13 assists and 11 boards. Dwight Howard continued his resurgence as well, putting up 14 points on 7-7 and shooting and grabbing 13 rebounds. With all of their marquee players performing, the Lakers are hard to stop right now. They visit a Bulls team that is 2-5, with their only wins coming against Detroit and Memphis. On Sunday night, Chicago fell to Indiana despite the fact that the Pacers had three starters out due to injury. It didn’t help that T.J. Warren started and put up 26 points for the Pacers, who have now beaten Chicago six straight times. Zach LaVine did lead Chicago with 21 points, and Wendell Carter Jr put up 20 more. Forward Thaddeus Young came off the bench to score a dozen games, but the result was still a disappointing one coming against an opponent with so many injuries. LaVine did break the 2,000 point total in just his 93rd game. The only other Bulls to score that many points in fewer games were Derrick Rose (86) and Michael Jordan (73). If you like the Bulls here, then you see the Lakers possibly falling into a trap game, overlooking the Bulls, and you also see Chicago putting forth much more concerted effort than they have been in their last few losses. NBA Betting Prediction: Los Angeles 114, Chicago 106
