Golf Lines: PGA 3M Open Betting Odds and Favorites

Now that the British Open has come and gone, the 2023 major season in the PGA is coming to an end; next up is the stampede to the TOUR Championship. Before the FedExCup playoffs begin in August, only two tournaments are left, including the 3M Open near Minneapolis, set for this weekend. Justin Thomas has competed in seven straight TOUR Championships, but he needs to do well in these last two tournaments to make sure that he qualifies. Tony Finau, the depending champion, Sungjae Im, Hideki Matsuyama and Cameron Young are some big names who will also play at TPC Twin Cities. We have the golf betting odds for the contenders (+10000 or better) along with some wager card suggestions.

Lucas Glover

has turned a corner over his last three starts. He finished in fifth at the Barbasol, T6 at the John Deere, and T4 at the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Over these 12 rounds, he is tops in this field in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green, Strokes Gained: Approach, Strokes Gained: Ball-Striking and Strokes Gained: Total. His putting has even come along, as he is 11th in this field over those last 12 rounds. When all phases of your game are clicking, you tend to do well, and he offers a good deal of value, especially in a diluted field like this one. It’s important to note, though, that Glover has been a mixed bag at TPC Twin Cities; in three starts, he has missed two cuts – and finished T7. We like him to stretch that ceiling this time.

J.T. Poston

is heating up at the end of the summer for the second straight year. He won the John Deere Classic in 2022 and finished T11 at the 3M Open. He came in T6 at the John Deere this time around and backed that up with a T6 at the Scottish Open. He made the cut at the British Open and finished T41. Poston’s short game has been terrific this summer; over his last 12 rounds, he is tops in this field in Strokes Gained: Putting and second in Strokes Gained: Around the Green. His striking has been decent as he is 49th on approach over those same 12 rounds. He also offers a lot of value.

Sungjae Im

finished T20 at the British Open, giving him three top-30 results in his last four tournaments. At TPC Twin Cities he has two career starts and has done very well – T15 and T2. He leads this field in strokes gained per round at prior 3M Opens (2.68).

Cameron Davis

does well when he plays courses that don’t penalize you for missing the fairway with long drives. TPC Twin Cities has rough that isn’t all that rigorous, as long as he stays out of the water. Davis hits big off the tee and can also deliver with his middle irons.

Vincent Norman

won the Barbasol Championship and finished T25 at the British Open, giving him six top-25 tournaments in his last 10 events. He can hit it long off the tee and convert it into birdies, and that type of player has won this tournament frequently.
