2019 A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier Odds & Betting Preview

Written by on September 12, 2019

The PGA Tour season begins at The Old White at TPC in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, as the 2019 A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier kicks off yet another campaign. Despite the fact that this is not one of the most well-known or prestigious tournaments in the Tour schedule, tenth-ranked Bryson CeChambeau and 24th-ranked Marc Leishman are in the field, along with Zach Johnson, Bubba Watson, Jason Kokrak and Jason Dufner. Sung-Jae Im, recently voted PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, will also play here. We have the golf odds for the contenders, as well as some thoughts on the course and wagering suggestions for you to consider.

2019 A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier Odds & Betting Preview

The Old White at TPC is a par 70, running almost 7,300 yards. The fairways are 10 percent easier to hit than the average PGA Tour course, and most approach shots are coming from within 125 and 150 yards from the green, so the wedges and short irons come in handy. Because this is a par 70, players who score well on par 4s should get betting priority.

Bryson DeChambeau

DeChambeau comes in as the top-ranked player in this field, and he finished 12th at the TOUR Championship, capping off a fine summer. DeChambeau has a history of getting big finishes in season openers, as he was in the top 20 at the 2017 Safeway Open and won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open last year. He has made eight cuts in his last 10 tournaments, and he is 15th in greens in regulation over his last 24 rounds. On bentgrass greens, he is fifth in “birdie or better” and in the top 30 in strokes gained: putting. He has four career Tour wins on bentgrass greens — and just one on any other type of green.

Sung-Jae Im

Im made 26 cuts in 35 tournaments during the 2018-19 campaign, with seven top-ten finishes. He is fifth in this field in strokes gained: putting over his last six tournaments. He finished fourth in the Safeway Open in 2018, his first tournament of the campaign. Players who do well at that tournament also tend to do well at A Military Tribute at The Greenbrier.

Scottie Scheffler

Scheffler is a Korn Ferry Tour Graduate who tied for second in ball striking and finished fifth in greens in regulation. He finished atop the Korn Ferry Tour’s “The 25” Point List and won two tournaments. He took part in four PGA Tour events last year, making the cut three times and cracking the top 20 at the Valero Texas Open. He ranks fifth in strokes gained: tee to green over his last 24 PGA Tour rounds, dating back to 2014.

Sepp Straka

Straka is a birdie machine, ranking fourth in “birdies or better” over the last 24 rounds. He only made 13 cuts in 25 tournaments in 2018-19, but he had a top-three finish and two top-15 finishes, not bad for a rookie campaign. He ranks just outside the top 30 in par scoring average and is in the top 20 in proximity from 125-150 yards, making him an interesting choice for this week’s tournament.
