There are a number of quality fights coming up in the next couple of days, so let’s take a look at the schedule as well as the latest boxing odds, along with thoughts on the title bouts.

Boxing News: Top Fights for This Weekend

Saturday, February 13 (London)

Ishmael Ellis (+1225) vs Dalton Smith (-2425)

Super Lightweight Bout
O/U 3 ½ rounds, O +120/U -140

Kiko Martinez (+615) vs Zelfa Barrett (-865)

IBF Super Featherweight Title
O/U 8 ½ rounds, O -120/U +100

Martinez comes in as the heavy underdog despite his status as a former world champion, as Barrett comes in at the age of 27 looking to make his mark. If Martinez wins, he would make history by winning championships in three different classifications. He has fought seven times in Great Britain but has only won there once. At the age of 34, Martinez is not yet over the hill by any means, but he will certainly need to preserve his cardio until the later rounds. Barrett does not offer a lot of value, but his recent run makes him tough to bet against. Barrett wins via decision.

Reece Mould (+215) vs Leigh Wood (-265)

British Featherweight Title
O/U 10 ½ rounds, O -185/U +155

Mould comes in unbeaten (13-0, 6 KO) in his fight with Wood for the vacant British Featherweight belt. Wood is fighting for a title for the second time in his career. Wood has the greater experience in the sport and can deliver bombs, particularly for a featherweight. Mould has been training with Josh Warrington, and Wood did lose his last fight. However, Wood is the favorite for a reason. Wood wins via KO.

Mauricio Lara (+985) vs Josh Warrington (-1770)

Featherweight Bout
O/U 6 ½ rounds, O -140/U +120

Saturday, February 13 (Las Vegas)

Kingsley Ibeh (+625) vs Jared Anderson (-1100)

Heavyweight Bout (6 rounds)
O/U 4 ½ rounds, O +125/U -145

Jason Sanchez (+175) vs Adam Lopez (-210)

Featherweight Bout (10 rounds)
O/U 8 ½ rounds, O -560/U +410

Jackson Marinez (+225) vs Richard Commey (-275)

Lightweight Bout (10 rounds)
O/U 8 ½ rounds, O -180/U +150

Saturday, February 13 (Fantasy Springs Casino)

Patrick Teixeira (+475) vs Brian Carlos Castano (-650)

WBO Super Welterweight Title
O/U 10 ½ rounds, O -135/U +115

Teixeira will defend his title against Castano, as the rivalry between Brazil and Argentina will be legislated once again. Teixeira (31-1, 22 KO) won the title, beating Carlos Adames to take the interim title near the end of 2019. He has not fought since then, and Castano (16-0-1, 12 KO) also won his last fight, demolishing Wale Omotoso. Castano has the better skill set, and he is all about bringing pressure. Teixeira will not be able to lie back and pluck points out of the fight; instead, he will have to come forward, and even if he does that, Castano still should have the edge. Castano wins via knockout

Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (+170) vs Joseph Diaz (-200)

IBF World Super Featherweight Title
O/U 10 ½ rounds, O -480/U +360

Diaz (31-1, 15 KO) defends his title in this fight. He beat Tevin Farmer to take the title in early 2020. Diaz is a mean fighter who comes in with a chip on his shoulder, but he is also smart enough not to let that lead him into trouble. Rakhimov has quickness, but Diaz has the quicker hands and could land the bigger bombs. Rakhimov’s defense relies heavily on upper body movement, which means he doesn’t move his feet. Diaz should grab the points here. Diaz wins via decision.
