2024 Cook Out 400 Odds, Betting Picks for NASCAR Cup Series

Last week, Denny Hamlin took advantage of overtime to swipe the win at the NASCAR Cup Series Toyota Owners 400 on Sunday night. His team helped him out with a terrific pit stop, and he came out with the lead and held that advantage through the extra time. This was Hamlin’s second win of 2024 and his fifth at Richmond Raceway – and his 53rd Cup Series win overall. His teammate, Martin Truex Jr, led 228 of the 407 laps but had to settle for fourth. Truex was in the lead when the caution flag went up with just two laps remaining in regulation, and Hamlin passed him in the pits. Joey Logano took second, and Kyle Larson, who had started on the pole, took third. This week, NASCAR is at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, and the Cup Series event is the Cook Out 400, set for 3:00 pm Eastern time on Sunday. FS1 will carry the telecast, and Motor Radio Network and SiriusXM will have the radio call. We have the NASCAR betting odds for each driver and suggestions for your wager cards.

Bet on the NASCAR Lines for Cook Out 400

Martin Truex Jr

Truex Jr is due a break coming out of pit road. He had enough speed to wi in Phoenix, but he didn’t stop when the other leaders did near the end and paid the price. He did pit with the other leaders at Richmond and lost the lead anyway. This is a fast car in this short-track package, but the pit crew needs to figure things out.

Christopher Bell

Bell has a speedy car, one that bailed him out of poor qualifying at Richmond. It also bailed him out after he took a speeding penalty. At Phoenix, he was one of a handful of drivers who could find room to pass.

Chase Elliott

Elliott has the best average driver rating among all Cup Series drivers over the last eight races at Martinsville.

William Byron

Byron has an elite car, but he will need to qualify well to have a chance at winning. Passing will come at a premium.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin hasn’t won at Martinsville since 2015. However, he’s already off to a better 2024 than he ran last year, and streaky drivers like that tend to make smart picks when they’re winning.

Ryan Blaney

Blaney won the Martinsville race last fall, and this might be his best track.

Alex Bowman

Bowman is probably the weakest link in the Hendrick garage, but he has a win here at the Paperclip, as does most of the rest of his team. He’s an interesting value pick.

Kyle Larson

Kyle Larson won the pole at Richmond but couldn’t quite get there for the win. Martinsville is another place where qualifying position plays an outsize role in pushing drivers to the win.

Chase Briscoe

Briscoe has become one of the Cup Series’ best drivers on flat, short tracks since NASCAR went with low-horsepower cars at these kinds of venues.

Brad Keselowski

Keselowski has finished the last two races reasonably happy – but hungry for more. He drives an RFK Ford, which is pretty fast, but not fast enough to win barring chaos among the really fast cars.

Joey Logano

Logano bounced back at Richmond, which is one of his top tracks historically. Martinsville is another one of his favorite tracks, making him an interesting pick to finish one spot better this week.

2023 Cook Out 400 Odds

Last week at the Pocono Raceway, it was Denny Hamlin who took the checkered flag at the NASCAR Cup Series’ HighPoint.com 400. He zipped by Kyle Larson using a bump-and-go pass with seven laps to go to get his seventh win on this track – and his 50th Cup Series trophy in his career, as well as his second title in 2023. The race actually ended under caution thanks to an incident in the last lap somewhere else on the track, so Hamlin celebrated under a chorus of boos from the crowd at Pocono. This week, NASCAR races at Richmond Raceway, and the Cup Series event is the Cook Out 400, set for Sunday at 3:00 pm Eastern time. The USA network will have the telecast, and you can listen on the Motor Racing Network or SiriusXM. Let’s look at the sports betting odds for the field as well as our NASCAR wager card suggestions.

Kyle Larson

has reason to be angry after the way things ended at Pocono. He felt that Denny Hamlin took some liberties with the way that he finished the race, so I expect Larson and his crew to put together a car that can beat Hamlin on his home track. Larson won the spring race at Richmond, and he also won at North Wilkesboro and Martinsville. Phoenix should have been a win for him. He has the top average lap time in the short-track package in the Cup Series. Hamlin may have won last week, but Larson is going to combine motivation and elite speed to punish Hamlin, and he is the smartest pick this week.

William Byron

led 117 laps in the spring race at Richmond, tops in the Cup Series. He ended up finishing 24th, thanks to a late-race caution in the 372nd lap. Byron had the lead when he entered pit road and left in fourth place; he got knocked off the table in the next restart. Turnabout is fair play, of course, as Byron took a win at Phoenix thanks to a late caution in an event that Larson had in the bag. Byron is second in average lap time in the short-track package.

Alex Bowman

had the third-best average running position in the spring Richmond race, and he has a win here in 2021. He also won at Richmond two years ago and took the win at Martinsville, another short, flat track. When Bowman wins, he is almost always a dark horse on the odds list. If you look at his record here – and his odds – he makes a smart long shot.

Kevin Harvick

is winding down his last season in the Cup Series and wanted to get into the NASCAR playoffs. He looks secure to get in, but winning at Richmond would make it more of a lock. He won the second race at Richmond in 2022 after a run of a couple of seasons when the Stewart-Haas Racing Fords had been doing well at short tracks. He has one of the top five average lap times in this year’s short-track package.
