2018 Coca Cola 600 Betting Preview

NASCAR remains at Charlotte Motor Speedway this week, with the running of the Coca-Cola 600. The 1.5-mile track will now feature 400 laps — and this is a format that Kevin Harvick has dominated to this point in the season. He has won five of the 12 races on the NASCAR slate so far this season, including three of the four that have taken place on 1.5-mile tracks. Kyle Busch won the other 1.5-mile track race, down at Texas Motor Speedway, but Harvick was right behind him in second place. Harvick credits his performance this year to the fact that his team has been together for five years, developing a great deal of chemistry. He also talks about the equipment that Ford has invested in for him to use. Can he win his sixth race this weekend? Check out our NASCAR betting preview of one of NASCAR’s longest races. We’ll talk some more about Harvick as well as some other drivers to add to your wagers.

2018 Coca Cola 600 Betting Preview

Martin Truex Jr. has finished in the top five in each of his last two races, and in seven of his last 11 starts overall. He won this race two years ago and has been in the top five each of the last three runnings. In his last six appearances at Charlotte Motor Speedway, he has an average finish of fourth, with a pair of wins. While Harvick and Busch have dominated this track length this season, Truex is another to look at for his performance in Charlotte. Ryan Newman is an interesting dark horse to consider for the Coca-Cola 600. In Kansas City, he was contending late until he had a wreck — without it, he could have had his third top 10 finish in his last five races. At the Coca-Cola 600, he has finished in the top 10 in six of his last nine starts, and he came in in ninth place in 2017. He does not have any wins yet in his career at Charlotte Motor Speedway, but he is a dark horse that could be due and could be worth the value odds. Jimmie Johnson is still looking for a solid finish this season, which is why many people are leaving him out of their bets. Before you scratch off his name, though, realize that Johnson has finished in the top 10 in three of the last five races. He has also won the Coca-Cola 600 four different times, second only to Darrell Waltrip. Johnson has taken first at the Charlotte Motor Speedway eight times overall. It’s true that almost a whole calendar year has passed since Johnson drew the checkered flag, but if you can get value odds on him, he’s worth considering. Kurt Busch has been in the top eight three races in a row and in the top ten for six of his last 11 starts overall. He won this race eight years ago and has finished in the top 10 in six of the races here since then. At Charlotte Motor Speedway overall, he has been in the top ten in five of his last six races overall — and he has endured his longest winless streak in the last four years. So he could be due as well. Kevin Harvick keeps bringing in the cash — and he’s been consistent when he hasn’t won, finishing in the top seven in 10 of his last 11 starts. At this track, he has finished in the top 10 in 13 of his last 15 races, so he’s going to be there at the end unless something crazy happens on the track. Obviously, you won’t get much value on this bet, because of his record on the track and because of his domination of NASCAR lately. However, when someone wins that often, you have to keep considering them until they fall off the table.
