Tom Aspinall vs Marcin Tybura

Tom Aspinall (12-3, 5-1 UFC, -450) vs Marcin Tybura (24-7, 11-6 UFC, +350) came into UFC in 2020 with a five-fight run that saw him finish Jake Collier and Alan Baudot quickly before stopping Andrei Arlovski in the second round, delivering a submission. That was the last time Aspinall was pushed to take a fight past the first round in that run, as he stopped Sergey Spivak and submitted Alexander Volkov. He got a main event against Curtis Blaydes in the summer of 2022, but he blew out his knee in the fight’s first 15 seconds. Now he gets Tybura, who has morphed into a sort of gatekeeper for the top ten in the UFC heavyweight. Tybura started in UFC with an approach of just smothering his opponents into submission, but he took a loss at the hands of Tim Johnson that forced him to develop a striking game. Tybura doesn’t have much stamina, and he doesn’t really have knockout power, so he has to rely on his wrestling, an approach that can take at least three rounds to get going. When he faces a quick starter, he usually has a hard time, and Aspinall is a quick starter.

Final Prediction: Aspinall wins via knockout

Molly McCann vs Julija Stoliarenko

Molly McCann (13-5, 6-4 UFC, -215) vs Julija Stoliarenko (10-7-2, 1-5 UFC, +185) shows how hard McCann has worked to earn a co-main event. She came into UFC with a lot of hype in 2018, but despite fighting her debut in front of her hometown crowd in Liverpool, she was beaten easily on the ground by Gillian Robertson, who won with a rear-naked choke. She started to put together some wins on preliminary cards, but observers started to wonder if she had what it took to contend. Then, in 2022, things started to turn her way. She delivered a spinning elbow against Luana Carolina that was a contender for Knockout of the Year, and she stopped Hannah Goldy in similar fashion a couple of months later. Erin Blanchfield dismantled McCann in November, but McCann still has that momentum coming into this fight. Stoliarenko is an armbar specialist who dwells in the basement of this UFC division. However, the most publicity she has ever garnered in UFC came in 2021, when she fainted on the scale while trying to make weight at 135 pounds. Stoliarenko has never fought this low in terms of weight class, so this cut might be dangerous to the point where Stoliarenko doesn’t have much in terms of effectiveness.

Final Prediction: McCann wins via stoppage
