Renato Carneiro (13-2-1) vs Chan Sung Jung

It isn’t a bad fight given that UFC had to scramble to get it. “The Korean Zombie” had his American debut at WEC 40, a three-round marathon with Leonard Garcia that remains one of the great MMA watches. Jung won his rematch with Garcia by pulling off the very first twister submission in the history of UFC. He only needed seven seconds to knockout Mark Hominick, once a title challenger, and after beating Dustin Poirier, Jung got a title fight against Jose Aldo, and he dislocated his shoulder in the fourth round. It took him almost four years to come back from a series of injuries and military service, and when he came back against Dennis Bermudez in 2017, he delivered a knockout in the first round, but he took some bombs before delivering the win. Then he missed almost two years with another injury. His latest comeback came in November 2018, when he lost in a bizarre knockout to Yair Rodriguez. Carneiro has also had hits and misses along the way. In his 2014 debut, he took apart Tom Niinimaki, but after that, he only won once in the next two years or so, beating Zubaira Tukhugov on the cards, with injuries keeping him out of the cage. However, he took advantage of a surprise chance to fight Jeremy Stephens on the main card and won via decision. He has superior jiu-jitsu skills and can also deliver bombs when he needs to. However, he is still missing that big win. In 2017, he lost to Brian Ortega, and in his last fight, he got knocked out by Jose Aldo. Can he beat “The Korean Zombie”? Carneiro has the advantage with his jab and reach, so Jung will have to deliver the drama to bring a finish. UFC Fight Night 154 Prediction: Carneiro wins via decision John Lineker (31-9) vs Rob Font (16-4) brings in Lineker as a replacement fighter for the injured Cody Stamann. Lineker has been a UFC stalwart since 2012, because he will move forward through bombs to bring aggression. He had to move up to 135 pounds after a series of missed weight tests at flyweight. A series of wins ended in 2016, when T.J. Dillashaw broke his jaw; Lineker has slowed down the fighting schedule as well as his aggressiveness in the cage. That decision to slow things down contributed to his loss to Cory Sandhagen on the card two months ago. Font has been inconsistent to this point, winning some fights through his aggressive use of knockout striking power or a more than decent game on the ground. However, when he runs into other aggressive fighters, he tends to turtle a bit and lose the advantage. He has picked up some big wins against such fighters as Thomas Almeida, Douglas Silva de Andrade and Sergio Pettis, but he lost to Lineker in their first matchup. Lineker has slowed a bit, but he still has the edge in terms of aggression. UFC Fight Night 154 Prediction: Lineker wins via decision
