Sure Losers in NFL Week 14 in the 2021 Season

Written by on December 6, 2021

Despite New Orleans’ Taysom Hill putting up more rushing yards (101) and passing yards (264) than any other player in the Saints’ Thursday night showdown with the Dallas Cowboys, the Saints fell by ten, in large part due to Hill’s four interceptions. Some other surprises in Week 13 included the Detroit Lions getting that first win in 364 days, beating Minnesota on a touchdown pass as time expired. Also, the Pittsburgh Steelers were able to put up 17 points in the fourth quarter to come back and beat the Baltimore Ravens, 20-19.

Which teams are most likely to be NFL betting losers in Week 14? Don’t miss our predictions.

NFL News: Sure Losers in Week 14

Dallas Cowboys (-5) at Washington Football Team

Sunday, December 12
The Cowboys were a Carlos Watkins pick-six from failing to cover the spread against a New Orleans Saints team starting its third quarterback of the year (Taysom Hill) – and a quarterback who had four interceptions on the day. The Cowboys had drives bog down and gave up running play after running play. Hill ran for 101 yards on the night, as he took several direct snaps for carries, and the Cowboys could not figure out how to stop it. On the other side of the ball, the Cowboys had a difficult time running the ball, with the exception of Tony Pollard’s 58-yard touchdown run, and Dak Prescott found himself under pressure – and making inaccurate throws – too often.

Next up is a trip to Washington, where the Football Team comes home from Las Vegas having beaten a Raiders team that beat Dallas on its home field. The Washington offense doesn’t have a terrific running game, but their line gives Taylor Heinicke time to find targets down the field, and his confidence continues to grow. Dallas had lost three of four before escaping New Orleans, and they didn’t look that good against the Saints.

Baltimore Ravens (+1.5) at Cleveland Browns

Sunday, December 12
When these two teams met in Week 12, Lamar Jackson threw four interceptions – and the Ravens still won, 16-10. Baker Mayfield threw for 247 yards – and Jarvis Landry had 111 receiving yards – but the Browns could only muster ten points. This past weekend, the Ravens went to Pittsburgh and lost, 20-19, as Jackson took seven sacks and threw an interception. The Browns have a hard time beating their AFC North rivals, and this year they have a hard time doing anything with consistency on offense.

The Ravens basically finished their game with Pittsburgh devoid of healthy cornerbacks, which prompted John Harbaugh to go for two with just a few seconds left on the clock and his team down one, rather than kicking the extra point and heading to overtime. Jackson’s pass clanked off the outstretched hand of tight end Mark Andrews, as quarterback and receiver were not on the same page in terms of the route. Will Cleveland be able to exploit these types of mistakes coming out of the bye?

L.A. Rams (+2.5) at Arizona Cardinals

Monday, December 13
The Rams got back on track with a 37-7 whipping of the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Arizona got Kyler Murray back and rolled over the Chicago Bears on the road, 33-22. The Cardinals’ defense picked off Andy Dalton four times, and if Matthew Stafford has not gotten rid of his interception troubles, which had plagued him in the four games before the win over Jacksonville, the Cardinals will be ready to take advantage. The Cardinals (10-2) have the best record in the league right now, and they don’t show signs of slowing down.

The Rams had been waiting for Odell Beckham Jr to sync with their offense, and he caught a touchdown pass. Sony Michel even had a huge day, running for 121 yards and a touchdown. Cooper Kupp had eight catches for 129 yards. Stafford did not turn the ball over, and the defense held Jacksonville to just 197 yards of offense. However, things won’t be so easy in the desert.
