They had a chance on Sunday to avenge that loss but blew a 13-point lead, falling, 17-16. Now the Seahawks are a game back of the 49ers (7-3), but they have a chance to make that up this weekend as the 49ers come to town. San Francisco is riding a wave of momentum, though, as Brock Purdy posted the franchise’s first perfect quarterback rating in any game since Joe Montana accomplished the feat back in 1990. The 49ers went into their bye week suffering from a three-game skid. They used that week off to fix their problems, winning their last two games by a combined score of 61-17. They rank fourth in the league in scoring offense (27.9) and third in total offense (387 yards per game). Their rushing offense ranks sixth in the league (132.7 yards per game) behind 825 yards out of Christian McCaffrey, who leads all other tailbacks by 134 yards.
The 49ers have a fierce defense, permitting fifth in total defense (302.8 yards permitted per game). The passing defense has snatched 14 interceptions, the most in the league. They did lose All-Pro Talanoa Hufanga to a torn ACL last week. His season is done, and the team will miss his 52 tackles and three picks, but there is plenty of depth to keep the unit from regressing too much.

Seattle needs to snap out of a three-game malaise in which they have gone 1-2 and scored a grand total of 48 points. They still average 21.6 points per game, good for 16th in the league, but quarterback Geno Smith bruised his elbow in the loss to the Rams. He is listed as questionable, but head coach Pete Carroll has said that he expects Smith to play. Tailback Kenneth Walker III strained an oblique muscle in the game and is listed as doubtful; his 613 rushing yards lead the team.
The Seahawks’ defense permits 21.8 points per game. They have seven interceptions as a team with a secondary led by Devon Weatherspoon. He has posted 52 tackles and three sacks, along with a pick-six and 13 passes defensed. The defense will have to stand tall; even if Smith can play, his bruised elbow is likely to limit his accuracy and range down the field.
