2019 NFL Week 4 Odds, Predictions & Picks

Written by on September 23, 2019

This past week gave us plenty of surprises. Some of teams that started off the season with the wrong foot got their first win and others got their first loss. Now we head into NFL Week 4, with many questions and scenarios that can occur. Let’s take a closer look at all of the matchups, along with their NFL odds and pick the best of each.

2019 NFL Week 4 Odds, Predictions & Picks

Thursday, September 26

Philadelphia (+4.5) at Green Bay (O/U 46.5) (8:20pm ET, FOX/NFL Network)

The Eagles have too many injuries on defense and too many missing wide receivers for you to count on them to win this road game on a short week. Packers to win and cover.

Sunday, September 29

Tennessee (+4.5) at Atlanta (1:00pm ET, CBS)

Atlanta went on the road and lost to Jacoby Brissett’s Indianapolis offense. Yes, Julio Jones caught another touchdown pass, but the Falcons’ defense faltered. Tennessee lost by 13 to a backup quarterback last week. I like Atlanta to win and cover.

New England (-7) at Buffalo (1:00pm ET, CBS)

This spread seems small, given how badly the Patriots have been beating other teams. Are the Bills better this year? Yes. But I don’t see them hanging without a touchdown of New England. Patriots to win and cover.

Kansas City (-6.5) at Detroit (1:00pm ET, FOX)

The Lions have beaten the Chargers and Eagles…and tied the Cardinals. Kansas City just keeps scoring at video-game speed. Even though the Chiefs can’t stop the run, they should be able to sprint out and keep that lead over the Lions. Chiefs to win and cover.

Oakland (+7) at Indianapolis (1:00pm ET, CBS)

Oakland got tattooed by the Vikings, losing by 20 on the road and giving up a big day to Minnesota tailback Dalvin Cook. Things don’t get any easier in the Hoosier State. Colts to win and cover.

L.A. Chargers (-17) at Miami (1:00pm ET, CBS)

Miami had a chance to take a lead in Dallas at halftime on Sunday and ended up losing by 25. The Chargers are a West Coast team having to play the early game on the East Coast, and I almost always bet against the team in that situation. Especially with a gigantic spread. Dolphins to cover.

Washington (+3) at N.Y. Giants (1:00pm ET, FOX)

Daniel Jones accounted for four touchdowns in his debut for the Giants, a thrilling win over the Buccaneers. Washington’s defense is worse than Tampa Bay’s. Giants to win and cover.

Cleveland (+5.5) at Baltimore (1:00pm ET, CBS)

Cleveland looked pretty good hanging with the Rams on Sunday night. However, the Ravens looked better hanging with the Chiefs earlier in the day. Ravens to win and cover.

Carolina (+4) at Houston (1:00pm ET, FOX)

Carolina got 261 passing yards from backup Kyle Allen in a laugher of a win over Arizona. Can they take advantage of dysfunction in Houston? Christian McCaffrey rumbled for 153 yards for the Panthers in the win. However, Houston went to L.A. and picked up a huge win over the Chargers. With that momentum shift, I like Houston to win and cover.

Tampa Bay (+9.5) at L.A. Rams (4:05pm ET, FOX)

Cleveland pushed the Rams hard on Sunday night. Tampa Bay isn’t as good as the Browns on either end of the ball. Rams to win and cover.

Seattle (-4) at Arizona (4:05pm ET, FOX)

Seattle lost a close one to New Orleans at home. Will they take their frustrations out on Arizona? Or will they show their usual inattention on the road? I’m going with A. Seahawks to win and cover.

Minnesota (+2.5) at Chicago (4:25pm ET, CBS)

Chicago can’t move the ball. Minnesota can…but they haven’t played a defense as good as the Bears’ yet. Even so, I like Minnesota to cover.

Jacksonville (+3) at Denver (4:25pm ET, CBS)

Gardner Minshew against Joe Flacco? The ratings here might be small, but I see Jacksonville delivering a big win. Jaguars to win and cover.

Dallas (-3) at New Orleans (8:20pm ET, NBC)

New Orleans with Teddy Bridgewater at the helm is not like most teams that have a backup quarterback. Bridgewater has a great arm and can also run the ball, making him more versatile than Drew Brees. Sean Payton gives the Saints a huge coaching advantage over Dallas’ Jason Garrett; expect the Saints’ schemes to carry the day. Saints to cover.

Monday, September 30

Cincinnati (+5) at Pittsburgh (8:15pm ET, ESPN)

Are you surprised to find the Bengals sitting as five-point road underdogs to a team with a backup quarterback? Don’t be — the Bengals mounted a furious comeback in Buffalo only to fall short, as new head coach Zac Taylor is still trying to get his game legs under him. Andy Dalton threw two big picks to keep the Bengals from finishing that comeback. Give me Pittsburgh to win and cover.
