NFL Week 14 Odds, Overview & Predictions for Every Game

Written by on December 4, 2018

Did you think Indianapolis would roll over Jacksonville last week? That’s all right — we did too. But then the Colts lost 6-0 in a game where Jalen Ramsey taunted Andrew Luck by pretending to help him up after a slide but then yanking his hand back at the last second. We saw a number of other surprises as well — Dallas stunned New Orleans by shutting down their offense and clinging to a 13-10 win despite seeing Dak Prescott get sacked seven times and fumble the ball on three different occasions. The Steelers kept going offside as the Chargers were trying to kick a winning field goal, and on the third try, the Chargers made it — and the Steelers were offsides again. What will happen in NFL Week 14? Check out our NFL betting thoughts for each matchup. As always, home teams are in all caps.

NFL Week 14 Odds, Overview & Predictions for Every Game

Thursday, December 6, 8:20pm ET

TENNESSEE (-5) over Jacksonville

Which Jacksonville team will show up? The one with the dreadful defense or the one with the lockdown defense? Which Titans team will show up? I’m taking Tennessee because they’re at home, and because Marcus Mariota and Derrick Henry should be able to move the ball for the Titans.

Sunday, December 9, 1:00pm ET games

BUFFALO (-3.5) over N.Y. Jets

How about Josh Allen? He’s showing more and more signs of greatness, as in his record-setting running performance last week. The Jets haven’t gotten the same for their investment in Sam Darnold.

CLEVELAND (PK) over Carolina

The Panthers have lost four games in a row, while the Browns appear to have something cooking with Baker Mayfield.

GREEN BAY (-6) over Atlanta

Firing Mike McCarthy — the first time the Packers have dismissed a coach mid-season since 1953 — should shake things up for at least a week, and the Falcons have enough dysfunction of their own.

KANSAS CITY (-8.5) over Baltimore

Lamar Jackson vs Patrick Mahomes should make for some interesting watching. But the Chiefs’ scheme puts a lot more points on the board.

New England (+8.5) over MIAMI

The Dolphins’ dumpster fire eased briefly with a four-point home win over Buffalo. However, the Pats beat the Dolphins by 31 up in Foxboro, and these Dolphins lost by 19 at a struggling Green Bay team on November 11.

TAMPA BAY (+9.5) over New Orleans

The Buccaneers have already beaten the Saints once, and New Orleans is likely to have their confidence reeling after losing in Dallas. The Buccaneers have won two in a row, knocking off San Francisco and Carolina at home. While the Saints might win, the Buccaneers should keep this close.

N.Y. Giants (+2.5) over WASHINGTON

The Redskins will now start Mark Sanchez at quarterback and are now auditioning backups as Colt McCoy broke a bone in Monday’s game against Philadelphia. The Giants held off the Bears in overtime and can at least move the ball. Did you know that Odell Beckham Jr. has two touchdown passes of at least 40 yards this year? That’s two more than his quarterback, Eli Manning, has thrown.

HOUSTON (-4.5) over Indianapolis

The Colts couldn’t score on Jacksonville. What will they do against the Texans on the road? After all, Houston has an actual offense, while the Jaguars are starting Cody Kessler at quarterback. Why can’t Colin Kaepernick find a job again?

Sunday, December 9, 4:05pm ET games

L.A. CHARGERS (-14.5) over Cincinnati

Yes, this is a huge line. But Cincinnati has lost four in a row — three of them at home — including a 15-point loss to Cleveland and a 14-point loss to Denver. The Chargers are better than both of those teams and just made a double-digit comeback to knock off Pittsburgh on the road.

Denver (-6) over SAN FRANCISCO

The Broncos have won three in a row, with wins at the Chargers and Bengals and a home win over Pittsburgh. So while Case Keenum still isn’t a high-flying quarterback, the system seems to be working. The 49ers are getting crazy numbers from Nick Mullens, but that San Francisco defense hasn’t looked great since they routed the Raiders.

Sunday, December 9, 4:25pm ET games

Detroit (-1.5) over ARIZONA

The Cardinals beat the Packers, and the Packers fired their coach. The Lions play defense — and they can move the ball more reliably than the Pack.

DALLAS (-4) over Philadelphia

The Cowboys have won four in a row, including that win over New Orleans, and all of a sudden their defense looks elite. Philadelphia had a hard time scoring against Washington until the fourth quarter.

OAKLAND (+11) over Pittsburgh

Oakland is just 2-10, but they hung 33 on Kansas City last week in a seven-point loss. What can they do to the Pittsburgh D? Just enough to cover.

Sunday, December 9, 8:20pm ET

L.A. Rams (-4) over CHICAGO

Four points is all the Rams get with the Bears either starting Chase Daniel again or a rusty Mitch Trubisky? That’s it?

Monday, December 10, 8:15pm ET

Minnesota (+3) over SEATTLE

Yes, the Seahawks have won three in a row, but those wins have come over Green Bay at home (and the Packers don’t win on the road), the Panthers (who have fallen off the table) and the 49ers (who are a rebuilding project). Minnesota has the offensive talent and the defense to come in and win this game — and they need to, to right the ship after losing to the Patriots.
