College Football Over/Under Top Picks for the Next 2023/24 Season

College Football Over/Under Top Picks for the Next 2023/24 Season

In less than three months, the 2023 college football season will be up and running. With that in mind, it’s time to look at how you can benefit from including win totals in your NCAA Football betting. When you see some of the top contenders, such as Georgia and Alabama, featuring win totals of 11.5 for the regular season, you don’t have a whole lot of room for error, because just one loss guarantees them the under. That means that you have a bet hinging on a major injury or two, or one single play in some cases. Let’s look at some win totals that represent better wagering opportunities.

NCAA Betting News: Top Win Total O/U Bets for 2023

Clemson: Over 9.5

Over 10 of the last 12 seasons, Clemson has won 10 or more regular season games. That includes the 2022 campaign, which head coach Dabo Swinney has labeled a disappointment. Garrett Riley comes from TCU as the team’s offensive coordinator, and given the success that Riley had last season, Clemson should be a lot less pedestrian on offense in 2023. Also, the Tigers get to play Notre Dame and Florida State – their two toughest opponents – at home. This means that Clemson could enter all 12 of their regular-season games as the favorite, so taking the Tigers to go over 9 ½ wins seems like a no-brainer.

Iowa State: Over 5.5

Iowa State entered 2022 with immense preseason expectations, with some viewing them as a contender to win the Big 12. They promptly went 4-8 and failed to gain bowl eligibility for the first time in six years. Six of those losses did come by no more than seven points, and the team had new starters and a raft of injuries. The 2023 schedule has some potential land mines, but getting back to bowl qualification.

Oregon State: Under 8.5

The Beavers have improved significantly with Jonathan Smith at the helm, and they have some heady expectations this year. Last season, they won nine games in the regular season, taking advantage of an easy Pac-12 schedule that saw them play Cal, Stanford, Arizona State and Colorado. This time around, Oregon State has a fairly easy non-conference schedule, and they don’t see USC during the regular season, but seven of their Pac-12 games could go either way, as Cal and Arizona seem to be on the rise this season. D.J. Uiagalelei has come west, transferring away from Clemson, but he hasn’t played like a dominant quarterback since he had a two-game stint in relief of Trevor Lawrence.

Wisconsin: Under 9

Luke Fickell comes from Cincinnati, where he built a Group of Five program into a CFP contender, to take over Wisconsin. He brought in Phil Longo as offensive coordinator; Longo had led a pass-heavy attack at North Carolina. The Badgers have developed a reputation for pounding the ball on the ground, throwing the ball as a last resort, but Longo’s offensive pedigree includes tutelage in the Air Raid. Wisconsin did bring in a ton of talent through the transfer portal, but it’s hard to argue that they upgraded enough to get to 9 or 10 wins this time around.

Bet on the Wisconsin!

Florida State: Under 9.5

This line opened at 10 before quickly slipping down a half-game. The Seminoles have LSU, Clemson and a couple of other dangerous road games on the slate. The last time Florida State won 10 games in the regular season was in 2015. They did go 9-3 last year and topped Oklahoma in the bowl game to hit double digits, but the national championship hype they are receiving coming into 2023 doesn’t make much sense.

Bet on the Florida State!

Iowa: Over 7.5

Iowa’s defense is always ironclad, and this year’s schedule allows them to avoid Michigan and Ohio State from the Big Ten East. They do play at Penn State, but other than that, every week is winnable. They kept Brian Ferentz as offensive coordinator, which means that they will continue to grind away on the ground instead of moving the ball with a little more energy, but this is a well-coached team that can grind out wins…and then get spanked in the Big Ten Championship.
