Must Bet Games & Picks for College Football Week 10

Written by on October 31, 2017

Iowa State became the first team to knock off the #3 and #4 teams in the nation in the same calendar month in over a decade this past week when they polished off TCU at home — and earlier in October they went down to Norman and beat Oklahoma. That was just one of the many exciting games from last week. Georgia moved closer to a College Football Playoff slot with their rout of Florida — although they would see Alabama in the SEC championship if the regular season ended today. Washington State went down in flames once again, bringing talk of a Cougar rise to the Pac-12 title down to a murmur. What will happen in Week 10? We have some College Football Week 10 odds and picks to help get you going for the coming weekend. As always, home teams are in all caps.

Navy (-9) over TEMPLE (8:00pm ET, ESPN)

The Temple Owls have lost four of five, with the last two coming by a combined margin of seven points. However, their last loss, two weeks ago, came at Army in overtime — and Army is definitely not on the same scale as Navy. They also lost to a UConn team that has dwelt in the basement of the American Athletic Conference this season. Their wins come over Villanova, FCS team UMass and woeful East Carolina — so when they welcome in a strong Navy team, I don’t see a lot of hope for the Owls. Navy has dropped two straight, but those have been at Memphis and at home to Central Florida, both ranked teams, by a combined 13 points. Defense has been an issue for Navy, as they gave up 32 points against Cincinnati and 45 against Air Force in close wins. However, Temple hasn’t shown the offense to hang with Navy, whom I suspect will be looking for some redemption to end this losing streak. College Football Week 10 Pick: Navy Midshipmen

TULSA (+12) over Memphis (8:00pm ET, ESPN2)

Tulsa is 2-7 and 1-4 in conference play, but they’ve only lost two games by more than ten points. One came in Week One, when Oklahoma State beat them by 35 up in Stillwater, and the other came four weeks ago, when Tulane shellacked them by 34 down in New Orleans. However, since that loss to the Green Wave, they have beaten Houston by 28, lost to UConn by six and lost to SMU by four. The Golden Hurricane have a high-octane offense, and these Friday night games can turn into traps for road favorites (yes, Clemson and Washington State, we’re talking to you). Is Tulsa a safe bet in Week 10? Memphis rides a four-game winning streak into this contest. They have outscored their opposition by a combined score of 198-122. However, I think that seeing that they beat UConn 70-31 while Tulsa lost to the Huskies will lead Memphis into some overconfidence. I don’t think Tulsa will win outright, but I do think they will cover this spread. College Football Week 10 Pick: Tulsa Golden Hurricane

Saturday, November 4

Penn State (-7.5) over MICHIGAN STATE (12:00pm ET, FOX) Both of these teams come into Saturday reeling from a disappointing loss last week. Penn State led Ohio State 14-0 and then 28-17 at the half before falling late, 39-38. Michigan State went to Northwestern and lost to the Wildcats, 39-31. Michigan State likes to grind the opposition down into a slow-paced game, using their running attack to chew down the clock. It worked in their win at Michigan (but so did all those picks by Wolverine QB John O’Korn), and in wins over Iowa and Indiana. However, Saquon Barkley and the rest of the Penn State offense simply have too many tools to bring to bear for the Spartans to hold them in check. As far as the Nittany Lion defense goes, I would imagine they will have some frustrations to take out on a Spartan offense that is one-dimensional. I see Penn State coming away here with a big win. College Football Week 10 Pick: Penn State Nittany Lions
