Top NCAAB Betting Picks of the Week – March 5th Edition

We’re approaching a situation in which the ACC could see three 1-seeds in the NCAA men’s tournament. North Carolina has won 12 of 13, including a win at Duke. If they can beat Boston College on Tuesday and then beat Duke at home this weekend, the Tar Heels would have a share of the regular-season championship in the conference. That assumes a clean sweep by Virginia. Of course, that could knock Duke out of a 1-seed, if they lose, but who knows, given the committee’s respect for the Blue Devils? Tennessee delivered a massive upset over Kentucky, so they look like the other 1-seed — but we still have a ways to go. If you’re thinking about college basketball betting this week, here are three picks for you.

Top NCAAB Betting Picks of the Week – March 5th Edition

Tuesday, March 5

Kansas at Oklahoma (9:00pm ET, ESPN2)

Kansas followed up their 29-point loss at Texas Tech with a 15-point throttling of Kansas State at home and then a nail-biter at Oklahoma State, prevailing by five. Dedric Lawson put up 20 points and 15 boards for the Jayhawks, and Quentin Grimes chipped in 17. That gave Kansas five wins in their last six games. Oklahoma State led most of the game but did not score at all over the last 4:02, watching a three-point lead turn into the five-point loss. Now Kansas heads to Oklahoma to take on a Sooners team that has turned things around to win three of four, including a 92-80 beating of West Virginia on Saturday. Jamal Bieniemy put up a season best 22 points, going 8 for 10 from the free throw line down the stretch, as the Mountaineers started fouling him intentionally over the last three minutes. He had gone just 6 for 12 from the free throw line for the season but came up clutch when it counted. But can the Sooners hold off Kansas? NCAAB Betting Prediction: Kansas 78, Oklahoma 73

Wednesday, March 6

Marquette at Seton Hall (6:30pm ET, FS1)

The Golden Eagles slipped from #10 in the nation to #16 after losing at Villanova and then at home to Creighton last week. In that setback to Creighton on Sunday, Markus Howard put up 33 points, but their defense could not stop Martin Krampelj or Ty-Shon Alexander for the Bluejays, and Marquette had uncharacteristically poor ball security, turning the ball over 22 times. Now Marquette heads to play another team with NCAA tournament visions in Seton Hall. The Pirates have dropped three straight, losing at home to Xavier and then falling at St. John’s and Georgetown, desperate for a win over Marquette to stay on the bubble. Seton Hall had routed Georgetown at home but lost in double overtime on the road, despite 35 points from Myles Powell and 14 points and 11 boards from Sandro Mamukelashvili. Can Seton Hall turn things around against the Golden Eagles? NCAAB Betting Prediction: Marquette 74, Seton Hall 70

Iowa State at West Virginia (7:00pm ET, ESPNU)

Iowa State is sputtering now, losers of 3 out of 4, including a 17-point setback at Texas on Saturday, as Jase Febres put up 26 points for the Longhorns, going 8 for 10 from downtown. Febres has gone 20 for 39 from behind the arc since moving into the starting rotation. So despite 22 points from Marial Shayok and 16 from Lindell Wigginton, the Cyclones were not able to stay close with Texas. Now the Cyclones head to West Virginia, who beat TCU by eight in triple overtime but then lost to Oklahoma on Saturday. The Mountaineers were led by Jermaine Haley’s 23 points, and Jordan McCabe added 18, but West Virginia allowed Oklahoma to shoot 59 percent from the floor and have now lost six of seven. Can they rise up at home, though, and beat a struggling Iowa State team? NCAAB Betting Prediction: West Virginia 84, Iowa State 80
