White Sox at Yankees MLB Betting Game Preview

Written by on September 23, 2015

Over the course of a 162-game season, it’s not very often that a singles game holds a great deal of meaning. That is not something that can be said for the Wednesday match-up between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays. If the Yankees lose, they will be 3.5 games back in the division, and will likely need a sweep of the Chicago White Sox, game 1 of which is set for Thursday night with the Yankees listed as favorites on MLB betting lines.

White Sox at Yankees: MLB Betting Game Preview

Date: Thursday, September 24, 2015 Time: 7:05PM Venue: Yankee Stadium Opening Line: Yankees -120 The Yankees (83-67) have done an admirable job of hanging around in the division, especially given the tear that the Blue Jays have been on in the second half. A loss on Wednesday night may well see them have to settle for a Wild Card spot, but if you asked the average Yankees fan at the start of the season if they would take that, you would bet that most would have said yes. Let’s face it, the Yankees have overachieved this season, and while they may not be everyone’s favorite team, there is something about having them in the playoff picture that makes things just a little more exciting. They have some injury issues to deal with, but have managed a 6-4 record in their last 10 games in spite of that. They are likely going to need to improve on that winning percentage to overhaul the Jays. Michael Pineda (11-8, 4.10 ERA) will be looking to replicate the quality start he delivered in his last outing. Michael-Pineda The Chicago White Sox (72-79) are poised to do something that they haven’t been able to manage since the very early part of September, which is to win a series. They have won 2 of the 3 games played so far in their series versus the Detroit Tigers, and have the opportunity to win on Wednesday and head into the Yankees series feeling a little bit better about themselves. They also have the added bonus of perhaps getting far enough ahead of the Tigers to avoid the shame of finishing at the bottom of the division. It is not a great consolation prize, but beggars cannot be choosers at this stage of the season. Chris Sale (12-10, 3.47 ERA) will start, and will be looking to snap out of a 5-game winless skid. So, What Should You Bet On?

Sale has not looked very good over the course of the last 5 games, and appears to be in a real funk. If the Yankees can get to him early, this thing could be over pretty quickly.
