His postseason career had been rocky coming into this postseason, as the Toronto Blue Jays shelled him in the 2016 ALDS when he was pitching with the Texas Rangers. It is Darvish’s knee-buckling curve ball that makes him such a dominant strikeout pitcher, and if he can avoid from leaving fastballs out over the plate, he should pitch well against Houston. Aftera ll, of the Houston regulars, only George Springer (.333, 2 HR, 3 RBI) has a career average against Darvish that is higher than .222, and only five Astros have career averages of .200 or better against the Dodgers’ hurler. Only six of the Dodgers’ hitters have ever faced Lance McCullers Jr., but they have fared well in limited action. Andre Ethier (3 for 3), Enrique Hernandez (1 for 2), Yasiel Puig (2 for 3) and Chase Utley (1 for 3) have all found pitches to hit against the Astros’ righty.
