The Memorial 2018 Betting Preview & Golf Odds

The PGA leaves Texas this week for the cooler climes of Ohio, as Muirfield Village Golf Club is the site of The Memorial, a tournament hosted by Jack Nicklaus. Tiger Woods will be in the field this week, and he will be someone to consider for your sports betting, as he has won The Memorial five times, more than anyone else, and has cracked the top five on three other occasions. He’s not the only one to watch, of course, as eight of the top ten players in the world will be in the field. Three of the last four editions of this tournament have ended in a playoff, so you can expect a tight finish once again this year. Given that we’re just two weeks away from the 2018 U.S. Open, you can expect the top contenders to be looking to hone their game. Take a look at some golfers we like as you put together your golf betting  picks.

The Memorial 2018 Betting Preview & Golf Odds

Matt Kuchar offers +4500 odds this week, despite the fact that he has missed only one cut in his last 16 tournaments. He usually finishes in the top 25 and has put together a terrific string of performances. He won The Memorial in 2013 and took runner-up in 2011, and he finished fourth in 2016 and 2017. He’s sniffing a breakthrough performance, and given his tee-to-green approach — and his solid performance at Muirfield Village — he’s someone to consider as you look for wager value. Rory McIlroy is a little further up the odds table but still offers +1400 odds. He took runner-up at the BMW PGA Championship and has finished in the top 20 in four of his last six tournaments. Since 2010, McIlroy has finished in the top ten three different times at The Memorial, including a fourth-place result two years ago. McIlroy is a tantalizing name when it comes to golf wagers, and the value here is worth taking a flyer on. Hideki Matsuyama broke into the top 20 at the AT&T Byron Nelson two weeks ago and has finished there in two of his last four tournaments now. At The Memorial, he took fifth place in 2015 and won the whole thing back in 2014. His play has become more consistent in recent weeks, and the fact that he offers +3500 odds makes him an attractive option — particularly given his history at Muirfield Village. Kyle Stanley has found the top 25 in four of his last six tournaments and ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in both greens in regulation percentage and driving accuracy percentage. That makes him one of the best statistical golfers who still have yet to win a tournament in 2018. He finished sixth here last year and third in 2013. He offers gargantuan odds (+8000) so if you’re looking for a darkest of dark horses to put on your card, think about Stanley. Justin Rose also offers +1400 odds despite winning the Fort Worth Invitational at the Colonial Country Club a week ago and has six top-25 finishes in his last seven tournaments. He has four top-8 finishes at The Memorial in his last six tries, including a first-place trophy in 2010 and a runner-up finish in 2015.

Here are some others to consider…

Justin Thomas (+1400) is making his first career start as the top-ranked player in the world. Tiger Woods (+1800) as we mentioned loves this course and played great golf at Players, making him a relative steal. Marc Leishman (+3500) tied for second two weeks ago at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Adam Scott (+5000) would qualify for the U.S. Open with a win. No matter what happens, the finish at Muirfield Village should be an exciting one. The course rewards shotmakers more than it does distance, with some narrow greens and tough pin placements, so pay attention to those who show accuracy more than strength off the tee.
