eSports: League of Legends Turkish Championship League Summer: July 11

Summer 2020 Standings (as of July 10)

  • Team / Record
  • Istanbul Wildcats / 8-2
  • Galakticos / 7-3
  • Papara SuperMassive / 7-3
  • Besiktas Esports / 6-4
  • Dark Passage / 6-4
  • 1907 Fenerbahce / 5-5
  • 5 Ronin / 5-5
  • Galatasaray Esports / 3-7
  • Team AURORA / 2-8
  • Royal Youth / 1-9

Matches for July 11

Royal Youth (3.14) vs 5 Ronin (1.33) (7:00 am ET)

These teams meet for the fourth time overall, with Royal Youth having won two of the prior meetings and 5 Ronin having won once. Royal Youth has struggled mightily this season, dropping five in a row and having won just once in this second split. 5 Ronin just has a 5-5 record but has a two-match winning streak, having beaten Besiktas Esports and Galatasaray Esports. I like them to make it three in a row.

Istanbul Wildcats (2.38) vs Papara SuperMassive (1.52) (8:00 am ET)

Papara SuperMassive has won three of the first five matchups in this rivalry, with the Istanbul Wildcats winning the other two. The Wildcats’ wins have been the last two in the rivalry, though, including a win in this TCL Summer 2020 split on June 7. Istanbul has won five in a row and sits atop the league table. However, Papara SuperMassive has also won five in a row and is just a game behind the Wildcats in the standings. I’m not sure why Papara SuperMassive is the favorite here, so I’m going with the value.

Dark Passage (1.82) vs Besiktas Esports (1.92) (9:00 am ET)

These two teams have split their six previous matches with three wins apiece as they head into Saturday’s showdown. Besiktas Esports won the most recent meeting on June 7. Dark Passage has gone 2-3 in their last five matches, with wins over 5 Ronin and Team AURORA, while falling to 1907 Fenerbahce, Galakticos and Papara SuperMassive. Besiktas Esports has dropped four matches in a row since beating Royal Youth on June 21. Given that recent form, I’m taking Dark Passage to win here.

1907 Fenerbahce (1.18) vs Team AURORA (4.30) (10:00 am ET)

These two teams know each other well, having met 15 times in the past. The series is very close, with 1907 Fenerbahce having won eight of those 15 encounters — but 1907 Fenerbahce has dominated lately, winning three matchups in a row. 1907 Fenerbahce has won three of their last five, beating Galatasaray Esports, Royal Youth and Dark Passage, while losing to the Istanbul Wild Cats and Galakticos. Team AURORA  has just one win in their last five matches, beating 5 Ronin while falling to the Istanbul Wildcats, Papara SuperMassive, Galakticos and Dark Passage. Team AURORA looks headed nowhere, so I’m taking 1907 Fenerbahce.

Galatasaray Esports (3.16) vs Galakticos (1.33) (11:00 am ET)

Galakticos is the favorite in this match despite never having beaten Galatasaray Esports in any of their five previous matchups. Galakticos comes in on a four-match winning streak, having beaten 1907 Fenerbahce, Dark Passage, Team AURORA and Besiktas Esports. Galatasaray Esports has just one win in its last five matches, with that victory coming over last-place Royal Youth. They have lost to 1907 Fenerbahce, the Istanbul Wildcats, Papara SuperMassive and 5 Ronin. I would say that the time is ripe for Galakticos to get that first win against these rivals.
