League of Legends is a highly popular video game that has spawned an international network of professional eSports leagues. The European version is the 2020 League of Legends European Championship (LEC). The professional competition in Europe is in its eighth year (in its second as the LEC). Currently, the league is in the opening weekend of the Summer 2020 season, in which ten teams will compete in a double round robin format, and the top six teams will advance to the playoffs. If you plan on including this league in your weekend League of Legends betting, take a look at our thoughts on Sunday’s matches.

eSports: League of Legends LEC Matches: June 14

Matches for June 14

SK Gaming (4.38) vs MAD Lions (1.215) (11:00 am ET)

MAD Lions has won each of the first two meetings between these two teams, both of them coming in the LEC Spring 2020 Group Stage. SK Gaming won four out of five down the stretch in the spring group stage but did not qualify for the LEC Spring 2020 playoffs. MAD Lions went 1-2 in the EU Community Showdown 2020 Group Stage before opening the LEC Summer 2020 Group STage with a win. Given MAD Lions’ dominance in this series and superior spring, I’m going with them here.

  • Final Prediction: MAD Lions wins

FC Schalke 04 (2.27) vs Rogue (1.56) (12:00 pm ET)

FC Schalke 04 has won five of the first seven meetings between these two teams, with Rogue taking the other two victories. They split their two matches in LEC Spring 2020 Group Stage play. FC Schalke 04 opened the LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage with a loss and dropped three of four in the EU Community Showdown 2020 Group Stage. Rogue opened their LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage with a win and won both of their EU Community Showdown 2020 Group STage matches before losing to Fnatic in the playoffs. Rogue has been playing better as of late, so I like them to win here.

  • Final Prediction: Rogue wins

Origen (1.61) vs Misfits Gaming (2.17) (1:00 pm ET)

The rivalry between these two teams is dead even, as both sides have won three times each in their six matchups. They split their matches in LEC Spring 2020 Group Stage play. Origen has lost five in a row, including a 3-1 setback against G2 Esports in the LEC Spring 2020 Playoffs and three Group Stage matches in the EU Community Showdown 2020, as well as their opener in LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage play. Misfits Gaming lost their LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage opener to Fnatic but had won two of three in the EU Community Showdown 2020 Group Stage, and they also made the LEC Spring 2020 playoffs.. I’m not sure why Misfits Gaming is the underdog here, so I’m going with them here.

  • Final Prediction: Misfits Gaming wins

G2 Esports (1.16) vs Team Vitality (4.86) (2:00 pm ET)

These teams will meet for the 13th time on Sunday, with G2 Esports having won nine of the first 12 matchups. The last time Team Vitality beat G2 Esports came in LEC Summer 2019 Group Stage play. G2 Esports comes in as the LEC Spring 2020 Playoff champions after beating Fnatic in the final. They won two of three in EU Community Showdown 2020 Group STage play and opened the LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage with a win over MAD Lions. Team Vitality beat FC Schalke 04 to open LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage play but lost all three of their Group Stage matches in the EU Community Showdown 2020. I like G2 Esports to keep their streak going here.

  • Final Prediction: G2 Esports wins

Fnatic (1.17) vs Excel Esports (4.63) (3:00 pm ET)

Fnatic looks to make it seven wins in seven matches against Excel Esports all-time. Fnatic had to settle for second place in the LEC Spring 2020 Playoffs but looks to get right back on another winning streak with a win over the Misfits in their LEC Summer 2020 Group Stage opener. Fnatic made the EU Community Showdown 2020 playoffs and won their first two rounds over Rogue and SK Gaming. Excel Esports lost to Rogue in their LEC Summer 2020 Group STage opener, but they also made the EU Community Showdown 2020 Playoffs, only to lose to SK Gaming in the first round. Excel Esports has some quality, but Fnatic is just too good.

  • Final Prediction: Fnatic wins
