If you follow cricket at all, you will be well aware that we have already seen one of the major tournaments of 2026 come to an end. That was the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was won by India, who outscored New Zealand by 96 runs in the final. ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026
The men have had their T20 World Cup tournament already, but the women will get their chance starting on June 12. Again, this tournament runs for a month, with England and Wals serving as the hosts. There are some big games in the group stage, including England going against Scotland, which is always a fun matchup, regardless of the sport. We will also have South Africa vs India and the West Indies vs Sri Lanka.

Asian Games 2026
Starting in September 17, the Asian Games will be home to both a men’s and women’s T20 tournament. All of the games will be played in the same facility in the Aichi region of Japan. The cricket event is just a small part of the games overall and will run for about 2 weeks before the medal winners are decided. On the men’s side, Bangladesh has been the team to watch in the 3 previous tournaments, winning a medal, including one gold, in each. Afghanistan has been good, too, winning the silver in all 3 years. The women’s side has been a dominated by Pakistan, who have won 2 of the last 3 events.

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026
Starting later this month, on March 28th, we will have the Indian Premier League. This one runs for 2 months and has a total of 74 games over that period. There are 10 teams in the league, and they play T20 style cricket. The bulk of the games are played in March and April, after which we get to the playoffs and the final in mid-May. The Chennai Super Kings have dominated this league, winning 9 straight times from 2009 to 2023, but we have had a pair of different winners in the last couple of seasons. The Kolkata Knight Riders win in 2024, while the Royal Challengers Bangalore are the defending champions.

Major League Cricket will return in June for their 4th season. The full season is only one-month long, with 6 teams playing a total of 34 games.
