NASCAR 2019 GoBowling at the Glen Odds & Preview

Now that the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series has entered August, it is time to head to Watkins Glen International Racetrack for the 2019 GoBowling at the Glen. Chase Elliott returns as the defending champion from 2018, although he is not the favorite this time around. Watkins Glen features a road course, which means that there are not as many opportunities to pass cleanly, there are cars that end up going off course, unusual pit stop alignments — and some chances for major accidents. Add in the possibility of penalties, and you have a chance for real drama. We have your NASCAR odds for this Sunday’s race as well as some suggestions for your wagering cards.

Kyle Busch

Busch is an interesting favorite here, given that he has not won in seven consecutive races. However, he has won the GoBowling at the Glen twice and has averaged a finish of 4.5 in his last four starts at Watkins Glen International Racetrack, including a win here at the 2017 Zippo 200. While his recent form has not been as solid, the fact that he has raced so well here makes him hard to leave off your card.

Erik Jones

Jones is an interesting dark horse choice here. He has cracked the top three in each of his last three starts, sniffing around what would be his second win in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series. In 2018, he came in fifth at GoBowling at the Glen, and he has averaged a finish of 7.5 in his last two races at Watkins Glen International Racetrack. If you want some value combined with recent form, Jones is a smart pick.

Joey Logano

Logano is just looking to finish a race at this point — but if you go back a little further in his race history, it is still quite solid, as he has 10 top-10 finishes in his last 14 races. He won the GoBowling at the Glen four years ago and has five top-10 finishes in his last eight races at Watkins Glen International Racetrack. In the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he picked up three victories here, including three of the last four runnings of the Zippo 200. The road course makes this a unique challenge, but Logano has the history to pull it off.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin pulled off a nice win last week and won the GoBowling at the Glen three years ago. In his last three starts at Watkins Glen International Racetrack, he has averaged a sixth place finish. He was the runner-up here back in 2007 at Centurion Boats at the Glen. He still offers a considerable amount of value given the fact that he won last week, so there is no reason to leave him off your sports betting card.

Martin Truex Jr

Truex Jr. has won four of the last 12 races on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series circuit. He also won GoBowling at the Glen in 2017 and came in second a year ago. He has averaged a finish of 3.3 in his last three races at Watkins Glen International Racetrack, and if we go back to his last 13 races here overall, he has eight top-10 finishes, including six in his last eight. He’s definitely one to consider here, despite the relatively low value.
