NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series: 2020 Pocono Organics 150 Odds & Preview June 27

There are four races set for Pocono Raceway this weekend. Two of them are in the NASCAR Cup Series, with an unprecedented doubleheader on Saturday and Sunday. The NASCAR Xfinity Series has a race on Sunday morning, but on the first of the four will be the Pocono Organics 150, in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series. The track at Pocono Raceway runs 2 ½ miles and is known as the “Tricky Triangle,” because there are three different turns at three different banking angles. Kyle Busch has won more races in the truck series at Pocono than any other active driver, with two, and Ross Chastain comes in as the defending winner. Austin Hill has never won at the Tricky Triangle, but he has shown consistency all season long. He has four top-seven finishes in the five Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series, and his average finish in his last six races is 4.6. With that consistency, it’s wise to play him, particularly when he is not the overall favorite.

Christian Eckes has an average finish of 5.5 in the last two races. This is his first full Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series season, and he is still looking for his first career win. In his last race at the Tricky Triangle, he came in fourth, and he won at Pocono in the 2019 FORTS USA 150. He offers decent value and is definitely someone to consider.

Grant Enfinger has two wins in the five Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series races in 2020. However, he has failed to crack the top ten in three of his last four races. At the Tricky Triangle, he has had three good results, with an average result of 8.0 in his last two races. He even has a win here, back in 2016 at the ModSpace 125.

Todd Gilliland has three top-ten finishes in his last four starts and has a 5.0 average finish in his last two races. He hasn’t won yet in 2020, but he is one of the most consistent racers overall. He has two straight seventh-place finishes at the Tricky Triangle, and he also came in second at the 2019 FORTS USA 150 here. If you’re looking for a dark horse, he’s one to consider.

Johnny Sauter came in fifth at Homestead-Miami Speedway and has six straight top-eight finishes at Pocono Raceway. He came in second here in 2014, and over those six races his average finish is 6.1. He has not won in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series in more than a year, but this could be his week to break through.

Ross Chastain collected a $100,000 bonus from the NASCAR Xfinity Series Dash 4 Cash at Talladega, coming in second. He won this race last year, and Kyle Busch isn’t racing this year, so one of the top drivers in the circuit won’t be in the field. He won three races overall in 2019 and finished in the top ten 19 times in 23 races, coming in second in the Gander RV & Outdoors Truck Series standings for the year. His main focus this year is the Xfinity Series, but his Pocono experience will help him here.

Matt Crafton won the series standings a year ago and comes in as a dark horse. Pocono Raceway has been tough for him, as he has only led one lap out of 529 that he has completed on the Tricky Triangle. Johnny Sauter has struggled too, leading just 16 of 563 total laps.
