Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – May 1st
At the BMW Open, top-seeded Alexander Zverev is the favorite to win the tournament. He takes on unseeded Yannick Hanfmann in the round of 16 on May 2. However, some other players to consider here are Philipp Kohlschreiber, as he has won the BMW Open three times, and he takes the field for the 14th time this year. He holds the sixth seed in 2018 and faces Mischa Zverev on May 2. Zverev had to win in the round of 32 to advance this far. Gael Monfils holds the seventh seed and may have some rust to shake off in Munich, as he has not played due to injury since March 13. The fourth seed is Hyeon Chung, who faces Matthias Bachinger on May 2 in the round of 16. He made the semis at the BMW Open last year, and he put together a solid run at the 2018 Australian Open. The Millennium Estoril Open features Kevin Anderson as the top seed. He made it to the semifinals here in 2017 and has a lifetime record of 3-2 in matches at this tournament. He is ranked eighth in the world and has remarkable dexterity given his 6’8” frame. Anderson already has one title under his belt this year and looks to add another one. The defending champion is Pablo Carreno Busta, who has an 11-2 match record here. He has yet to take home a first-place trophy so far this year, but playing close to home makes him someone to consider on your wagering card, especially given that he’s already netted more than $850,000 in prize money this year. Giles Muller made the finals a year ago and has a 5-2 career record here. However, he is ranked just 28th in the world and has a losing record in match play this year (7-9). Given his success at this tournament, he may well be one you want to consider as a dark horse.Budapest champion Marco Cecchinato soars 33 spots to a career-high.
