NFL Week 8 ATS Betting Picks & Predictions

The Eagles ended up rolling, 31-17, but the game wasn’t as easy as the score indicated. Quarterback Jalen Hurts had a pair of turnovers in the game, including a third-quarter pick-six that allowed the Dolphins to tie the game. Hurts has now turned the ball over 10 times in seven games, the second-highest total for any NFL quarterback behind Atlanta signal-caller Desmond Ridder, who has coughed the ball up 11 times. Cornerback Darius Slay came up huge in the fourth quarter, picking off a pass from Tua Tagovailoa to alter the arc of the game. Looking ahead to Week 8, don’t miss our top NFL Week 8 ATS.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Buffalo Bills TNF

When: Thursday, October 26, 2023, 8:15 pm ET
Where: Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, NY
TV/Live Stream: Prime Video

This is an interesting midweek matchup, because the Buffalo Bills have shown flaws on both sides of the ball, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been a more solid team with Baker Mayfield at the helm than many had anticipated. Tampa Bay comes in on just three days of rest, but Mayfield has led his teams to a 6-3 SU and ATS record in midweek games. Buffalo went to New England and took a late 25-22 record, only to watch the Pats drive down the field and score on a late pass from Mac Jones to Mike Gesicki. The 29 points that the Pats piled up on Buffalo were just one fewer than the 30 points the Pats had managed in their four previous games combined. Ever since the Bills rolled Miami at home, 48-20, they’ve been playing like they already won the Super Bowl, and that lack of effort and focus has led to bad losses to Jacksonville and New England.

The Tampa Bay D is only allowing touchdowns on 22.1% of red-zone possessions – and opposing quarterbacks have only posted a combined 39.1 rating in those situations. Thursday night games have a way of showing off the fatigue of both teams, and as poorly as the Bills have been moving the ball, I see the Bucs sneaking up on the Bills and, if they can’t win, they should be able to stay within a touchdown. Bucs to cover.

Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders

When: Sunday, October 29, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: FedExField, Landover, MD
TV/Live Stream: FOX

While the Eagles bring that momentum from that win down I-95 to Washington this Sunday, the Commanders showed a lot of problems moving the ball in a 14-7 loss to the N.Y. Giants last week. The Giants’ defense hadn’t been stopping anyone at all, but they had no problems shutting down Sam Howell and the Washington attack. Jalen Hurts did play the second half wearing a knee brace, opening the possibility that he suffered an injury in the first half. However, whether the brace was precautionary or not, Hurts did hit his targets in the second half, so even though he was hobbling off, it’s hard to imagine him struggling against the Washington secondary. The Commanders do have a solid pass rush, and they did scare the Eagles earlier this season before losing on the road in overtime, but Washington’s offense has regressed since that matchup. Eagles to win and cover.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Pittsburgh Steelers

When: Sunday, October 29, 2023, 1:00 pm ET
Where: Acrisure Stadium, Pittsburgh, PA
TV/Live Stream: CBS

Both of these teams are playing above expectations right now, as the 5-2 Jaguars head to Pittsburgh to take on the 4-2 Steelers. The Jacksonville offense has been very productive, putting up 24.7 points per game. The Pittsburgh offense is still a work in progress, but they did put up 24 points in a win over the Rams this past week. The Steelers do have a stout defense, and Kenny Pickett is showing more confidence leading the Pittsburgh offense each week. The Jaguars do have some extra rest since they played last Thursday. Steelers to cover.
