Super Bowl XLIX Props: Bet On #DeflateGate

Written by on January 26, 2015

At this stage of the proceedings, the media has usually worn out all the major stories attached Super Bowl XLIX. The week leading up to the game is usually when predictions come, and the rumor mill goes into full effect. The sad fact of the matter is that hardly anyone has spoken about the game yet, as all the attention has been on the Patriots and the DeflateGate scandal. While fans would love to see the NFL get this whole thing settled and out of the way, the odds of that actually happening do not look too good, at least, not if you believe the stats put out by some oddsmakers. The suggested penalties for the Patriots have run the gamut from huge fines and loss of draft picks, to the suspension of Coach Belichick for a year and the benching of Tom Brady for the big game. The way we see it, any type of fines or suspensions that the league chooses to levy will be done after the Super Bowl. These are some of the odds making the rounds online:

Odds of punishment timing:

NFL makes the announcement prior to the Super Bowl: 3-1 NFL waits until after the Super Bowl: 1-3

The odds on potential penalties for Tom Brady:

Potential penalties against the Patriots organization:

It’s going to be interesting to see how all of this plays out, and while fans may have different ideas as to how that will go, the one thing that just about everyone agrees on at this point is that we will not find out until the Super Bowl XLIX Champion has been crowned.
