Philadelphia at Dallas NFL Odds & Week 11 Betting Prediction

Written by on November 17, 2017

The Philadelphia Eagles head down to Texas on Sunday night to take on the Dallas Cowboys in an NFC East showdown. The Eagles only have one loss so far this season and come out of the bye after a 51-23 rout of Denver at home two weeks ago. Dallas had won three straight before losing linebacker Sean Lee to a hamstring and tailback Ezekiel Elliott to a six-game suspension, and the result was an embarrassing 27-7 loss to an Atlanta team that had dropped four of five. The teams meet for the 116th time on Sunday night, including the playoffs, and the Cowboys lead the all-time series 65-51. Can the Cowboys turn things around at home, or will the Eagles deliver a lesson? Check out our NFL odds preview for this big matchup.

Why should you bet on the Eagles?

The Eagles have a three-game lead on the Cowboys going into this game, and the knowledge that they could salt away the division with a win should be motivational. Against Denver, Philadelphia just made everything look easy, leading 17-3 after one period and 31-9 at halftime, rolling up 419 yards on offense and 25 first downs. Carson Wentz has the Eagles sitting at #14 in the NFL with 240.2 yards per game through the air, but their rushing attack has been the real story, as they are fourth overall with 136.8 yards per contest — and adding tailback Jay Ajayi via trade will only make that number go higher. In the passing game, Wentz’s favorite target is tight end Zach Ertz, but wideouts Alshon Jeffery and Nelson Agholor have five touchdown catches apiece. On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles only permit 19.9 points per game, good for 10th in the league. The Cowboys may be missing left tackle Tyron Smith again (and in his absence, the Cowboy backups permitted six sacks from that side of the line), so the pass rush should have a big day if Smith is out again. With a quick linebacking corps, the Eagles should stack the box and make Dak Prescott beat them down the field.

Why should you put your money on the Cowboys?

This is one of those games in which a team finds themselves with their collective backs against the wall, as the Cowboys can basically kiss the postseason goodbye with a loss. Last week, the Cowboys’ offensive line could not open holes like they usually can with Smith out, and the committee of Alfred Morris, Rod Smith and Darren McFadden were mostly ineffective carrying the ball. When Prescott dropped back to pass, he had Falcons in his face before he could get set up too many times. The Cowboys do average 25.9 points per game, but their first outing without Elliott was not promising at all. If that committee at tailback can produce more, expect the Cowboys to chew up more yardage. Are the Cowboys a safe bet in the NFL odds for Week 11? Dallas’ defense permits 22.8 points per game, good for 17th in the league. However, they will be missing Sean Lee, and without him at the linebacker position, the team has given up an average of almost 35 points per game over the last two seasons. The Dallas secondary is young, which means that Jourdan Lewis, Anthony Brown and the rest of the corps are susceptible to getting torched. If you like Dallas, you see Philadelphia coming in overconfident and the Cowboys having made multiple adjustments during the week.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Eagles look like they’re headed for a playoff clash with the Rams to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season. I see them delivering a big win against Dallas this weekend — this low line is a real surprise for me. I predict a final score of Philadelphia 38, Dallas 13.
