49ers vs Jaguars Betting Picks and Analysis for Week 10

Written by on November 9, 2023

After a 1-2 start, the Jacksonville Jaguars have reeled off five straight wins, including a pair of victories in London. They’ve beaten the Buffalo Bills and held the Kansas City Chiefs to 17 points in a tough loss. They come out of the bye bolstered by a tough defense led by outside linebacker Josh Allen. He has posted nine sacks and has basically been the team’s pass rush. He has 48 quarterback pressures; the next-highest Jaguar on the list is Travon Walker, who has 22. The run defense is ranked third in the league at 79.3 yards per game, and Allen has been a major part of that as well. Next up is a visit from the San Francisco 49ers, who have turned a 5-0 start into a 5-3 record. Brock Purdy has thrown five picks in that three-game skid, but tailback Christian McCaffrey is in the NFL’s top 3 in rushing yards (652), total touchdowns (13) and total scrimmage yards per game (118). Could Sunday’s game be a Super Bowl preview? Check out our NFL betting insights on the contest between 49ers vs Jaguars.

Why should you bet on the 49ers?

The 49ers have gone 2-2 in their last four games away from Levi’s Stadium. Even with Brock Purdy’s recent decline, he still has a 68.3% pass completion rate, and Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle have combined for five receiving touchdowns and 1,063 yards of offense. Deebo Samuel returned to practice after missing two games with a hairline fracture in his shoulder. He expects to be cleared for play against the Jaguars, which will give them another weapon in the backfield as well as running routes.

The 49ers’ defense has remained solid through the losing streak, still holding teams to just 17.5 points and 315 yards per contest. Charvarius Ward has a pair of interceptions, Drake Jackson leads the team with three sacks, and Fred Warner is the top tackler with 71. In eight of their last nine games against teams over .500, the 49ers have won straight up, and they have scored the game’s first touchdown in eight of their last nine games in AFC stadiums.

Why should you put your money on the Jaguars?

Jacksonville’s five-game winning streak has been impressive, but their biggest win came in London against a Buffalo team that has continued to show inconsistency since, despite the massive talent on their roster. Trevor Lawrence has a 68.3% pass completion rate and is benefiting from a strong running game. He has only had to throw for 1,935 yards, with a 9:4 TD:INT ratio, and while Christian Kirk and Calvin Ridley have combined for five scores and 971 receiving yards, the productive running game (112.5 yards per game) has taken the pressure off Lawrence. Travis Etienne Jr leads the team with 583 yards and has seven touchdowns.

On defense, the Jaguars allow 19.5 points and 342.8 yards per contest behind 92 tackles from Foyesade Oluokun and three picks from Andre Cisco. In their last nine games against winning teams, Jacksonville has a perfect 9-0 record against the spread, and they have won seven straight Sunday contests against winning teams. They have also scored the first touchdown in five straight games.

49ers vs Jaguars Final Score and Prediction

At some point, the 49ers have to snap out of their offensive funk, right? I’m not sure that happens in an early game on the East Coast against a confident Jacksonville team, though. I predict a final score of Jacksonville 27, San Francisco 20.
