Why should you bet on New York?

The Mets are right on the edge of the buy-versus- sell line with big decisions coming up before the trade deadline. They need a more consistent offense and more consistent pitching if they’re going to work themselves into a wild card slot. Those ten losses next to Jerad Eickhoff’s name have a lot more to do with poor run support than bad pitching on his part. Despite the fact that the Colorado Rockies knocked him around last weekend, he has a plus fastball and an above average ground ball rate. As the Phillies move forward with their rebuilding plans, I see Eickhoff as a major factor in their rotation. None of the Mets who have faced Eickhoff more than nine times has a career average above .167 against him.
