At this still very early stage of the MLB betting season, the only real changes you tend to see teams making are roster moves that are brought on by injury or underperforming players in the lineup. The Atlanta Braves have gone against type to pull of an early season, on again, off again, trade that they hope will add some pop to their lineup. They will be hoping that the trade is finalized before they face the San Francisco Giants on the road on Thursday.
If the Giants (27-20) can complete the sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, they will head home having gone 5-2 on this road swing. That is a mark that they would have to feel very good about, and is one that you have to feel they can accomplish given how well they have been playing of late. The champions have put things together in every facet of their game during this hot run in May, as the offense and defense are both firing on all cylinders. They are getting the types of starts they had hoped for from their pitching rotation, and are helping those guys out by providing some solid run support. Chris Heston (4-3, 4.33 ERA) will get the start for the Giants on Thursday. San Francisco have won each of Heston’s last 3 starts, during which he picked up 2 wins and was chased early in the other.
Having Shelby Miller on the mound represents Atlanta’s best opportunity to steal a game in San Francisco. This looks like being a low-scoring affair, but I think the Giants are just too good right now and will come away with the win.

Wednesday morning, word was that the paperwork was done and was now just pending league approval. If that is indeed the case, expect Uribe to be in the lineup for the Braves come Thursday night. By landing the 36-year old veteran, the Braves are not looking to the long-term, and the sense is that they are trying to add a little bit of power to a lineup that is in desperate need of it. Shelby Miller (5-1, 1.50 ERA) has given the Braves the best opportunity to win all season long, and it is he who will take to the mound on Thursday.
