Why Should You Bet on Atlanta?

I have a tough time suggesting that you bet on a team that still hasn’t won 10 games at this point in the season. However, Teheran has actually pitched pretty well. In his last eight starts, he has held the opposition to two runs or fewer, but he hasn’t been able to get a win because the Braves don’t hit well. Freddie Freeman has found some power lately, swatting a couple of home runs last week, and the Pirates’ starter, Francisco Liriano, did get taken deep three times in his last start, so there is a little hope for Atlanta.

Why Should You Put Your Money on the Pirates?

Liriano has historically pitched well against the Braves, going 2-1 with a 3.60 ERA in four outings. The only two Braves hitting over .235 against him for their career are Eddie Inciarte (.333, 2-6) and Freeman (.750, 3-4). Those with extended history against Liriano haven’t done so well, though, as Jeff Francoeur is just 3 for 21 lifetime (.143), and Nick Markakis is just hitting .235 (4 for 17). Meanwhile, Andrew McCutchen is hitting .417 lifetime against Teheran, including a pair of home runs and 4 RBI.
