2018 Food City 500 Betting Preview & Prediction

This week’s NASCAR event takes place at Bristol Motor Speedway, in eastern Tennessee, as the Food City 500 is set to start at 2:00pm Eastern time, with the whole extravaganza broadcast on FOX. Kyle Busch picked up a big win at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway, so we’ll look to see if he can make it two in a row, or if another driver will draw the checkered flag instead. This will be the 58th edition of the Food City 500. Check out our

— BristolMotorSpeedway (@BMSupdates) April 11, 2018 Bristol Motor Speedway has long been friendly to Denny Hamlin. In his last eight appearances at this track, he has finished in the top ten on five different occasions, and in his last five starts here, he has thee third place finishes. He does have a cold streak going now, as he didn’t do well at all at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 and has missed the top ten in three of his last five races overall. It is important to note that Hamlin has never won the Food City 500, but he does have a solid record here. If you’re looking for a dark horse down the odds list, Hamlin is one to consider. Texas Motor Speedway was the site of a terrific performance from Erik Jones, who came in fourth at the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 last week. He does have a solid track record at Bristol, as he came in second in his last start here. When Jones was racing in the Xfinity Series, he picked up a pair of victories here as well. Jones is just 21, but he looks more than ready to pick up his very first trophy as a first-place winner in Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series racing.

Who Else Should You Be Looking At As a Possible Pick?

Joey Logano has put together enough solid finishes lately that you could consider him due a victory. In six of the first seven NASCAR races of 2018, he has finished no worse than seventh in six of them, which is why you should consider him for your card for this week. Logano already has two career victories at Bristol Motor Speedway, and in his last nine appearances here overall, he has six top ten finishes. The fact that Logano keeps showing up near the top of the final results each week means that you have to consider including him on your card. Kyle Busch took home top honors from the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 a week ago, continuing a hot streak in which he has either won or finished second in four of his last five races. Also, Bristol Motor Speedway has been extremely kind to him over the years, as he has won the Food City 500 three times already, and in his last ten races at Bristol, he has finished in the top five six times. When he was racing in the Xfinity Series and the Camping World Truck Series, Busch took home quite a few trophies as well. So you definitely want Kyle Busch on your card. Texas Motor Speedway was also kind to Kurt Busch last week, as he came in seventh place, one of his better results of 2018. While that might not sound so promising for this week, bear in mind that he already has four Food City 500 trophies in his cabinet. The only racers who have won this race more times are Dale Earnhardt, Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace. Kurt Busch has six top five finishes in his last 10 Bristol Motor Speedway races as well, and given that he is in a dry spell as far as victories go (winless since last year’s Daytona 500), this could be his turn. Consider adding him to your card.
