2018 Federated Auto Parts 400 Odds & Preview

Richmond Speedway is the site for the second Monster Energy NASCAR playoff race of 2018, which means we’re in Virginia for the third time in 2018. Brad Keselowski won his third consecutive race last week, so if you followed our wager card advice, you were a big winner. Last race saw a series of horrendous crashes and restarts in the waning laps of the event, and while Martin Truex Jr led for the vast majority of the race, the chaos at the end gave Keselowski the chance to jump ahead in the last 30 laps, and he got the win. Richmond features a ¾-mile D-shaped oval that has also featured some pileups of its own. Take a look at our 2018 Federated Auto Parts odds preview for the latest installment of the Monster Energy NASCAR postseason, complete with suggested drivers.

Brad Keselowski has to be someone you consider, because of the hot streak he is on. He has won three straight and finished second two races before that. Richmond Speedway is one of his favorite tracks, as he has picked up a room full of trophies here in the Xfinity Series, and in NASCAR, he has six top-ten finishes in his last nine races here. The moneyline here still represents significant value, given his hot streak. Kevin Harvick has six top-five finishes in his last nine starts. Last week was an off performance, as he slid outside the top 10, but that is a good sign for bettors, because he has not failed to crack the top ten in two consecutive races in 2018. His track record at Richmond is solid, as he has six top-five finishes in his last eight races here, and he has won this race two times in his career. He’s second on the odds list, but he still represents good value because of his performance. Denny Hamlin didn’t race well in Las Vegas and hasn’t won since 2017. However, Richmond Speedway is one of his favorite courses. He has six straight top-eight finishes here, as a part of 10 top-10 finishes in his last 15 races here, and he has won this race three times. So he’s definitely someone you want to consider. Kyle Larson has three top-five finishes in his last four starts, and he was the 2017 champion at this race — and the runner-up two years ago. The moneyline on him represents a good value given his performances here. Kyle Busch is the favorite, and given that he has won at Richmond Speedway already this season, that makes sense. He started the race here in April in 32nd place but found his way to the front by the end, giving him five victories on this speedway. He led 32 laps in that victory, and this could give him the first season sweep at Richmond since Jimmie Johnson pulled the feat off in 2007. Consider putting the favorite on your card. Finally, consider Joey Logano. His last four races have featured three top-five finishes, and at Richmond, he has finished in the top 10 in nine of his last 11 races, and he has won this event twice. At that moneyline, he might be the smartest play on this list.
