2019 NFL Week 5 Odds, Overview & Picks for Every Game

The Dallas Cowboys had a chance to become the NFL’s fourth 4-0 team on Sunday night, but despite holding the New Orleans Saints to just four field goals, the vaunted Dallas offense could only muster ten points, thanks in large part to passive play by the offensive line. The 12-10 loss was a mirror image of the 13-10 upset win the Cowboys posted over the Saints in the 2018 season. Other surprises in the Week 4 slate included Jameis Winston absolutely torching the Rams’ defense on the road, the Kansas City Chiefs struggling to put away the Detroit Lions, and the Philadelphia Eagles mounting a furious comeback against the Green Bay Packers on the road. L.A. Rams (PK) at Seattle (8:20pm ET)

Wow. Which Rams team will show up? Hopefully not the one that got run out of their own stadium by the likes of Jameis Winston. If so, Seattle will obliterate them. The Seahawks continue to fly under the radar as a quiet contender. Seahawks to win and cover.

Sunday, October 6

Baltimore (-3.5) at Pittsburgh (1:00pm ET, CBS)

Mason Rudolph looks awfully good running the Steelers offense, and the Ravens just gave up 40 points to Cleveland — at home! Not sure why the Ravens are a road favorite here. Steelers to cover.

Chicago (-5.5) vs Oakland (1:00pm ET, FOX, in London)

The Bears looked terrific against Minnesota on Sunday, shutting down that Viking offense. Oakland impressed, though, in a big win at Indianapolis. I’m not sure the Raiders can dent that Chicago D, though. Bears to win and cover.

Arizona (+4.5) at Cincinnati (1:00pm ET)

Cincinnati put up three points against Pittsburgh and looked listless all night long. They are 0-4 for a reason, and they look a lot more listless than the young Cardinals. Cards to cover.

Jacksonville (+13) at Carolina (1:00pm ET)

Carolina has won two in a row, at Arizona and at Houston. But are they two touchdowns better than the Jaguars? This is an odd line, as the Jaguars have also won two in a row. Minshew Magic is real, so give me Jacksonville to cover.

Minnesota (-4.5) at N.Y. Giants (1:00pm ET, FOX)

Minnesota looked just dreadful against the Bears. The Giants’ defense is not nearly as good as Chicago’s, but rookie quarterback Daniel Jones has the Giants enthusiastic. Give me the G-men to cover.

New England (-16) at Washington (1:00pm ET)

The Patriots will be looking to work out some frustration after mustering just three field goals on offense against the Buffalo Bills, and the Redskins are the perfect target. Patriots to win and cover.

Philadelphia (NL) at N.Y. Jets (1:00pm ET)

The Jets will still have Luke Falk at quarterback, which means that you won’t get much value on the moneyline here. The Eagles should win big, but they also should have beaten Detroit. I have Philadelphia to win but I’m not investing a lot here.

Tampa Bay (+5.5) at New Orleans (1:00pm ET)

New Orleans has the defense to slow down Tampa Bay — but we thought the same thing about the Rams. I don’t see Winston putting two transcendent games together, but New Orleans is struggling to move the ball. This will come down to the last possession either way. Tampa Bay to cover.

Buffalo (NL) vs Tennessee (1:00pm ET, CBS)

Buffalo not only lost to the Patriots, but they lost Josh Allen to the concussion protocol. Backup Matt Barkley completed some nifty passes, but not enough to help the Bills pull off the win. Wait to see whether Allen is cleared before you bet on this game.

Denver (+6.5) at L.A. Chargers (4:05pm ET, CBS)

The Chargers have an impressive win, two ugly losses and a rout of a win in their first four. Denver is still waiting for their first win of the season. Chargers to cover.

Green Bay (+4.5) at Dallas (4:25pm ET, FOX)

It is hard to pick against Aaron Rodgers, especially when you saw how much time the Dallas defensive line gave Teddy Bridgewater in their loss to the Saints. Packers to cover.

Indianapolis (+9.5) at Kansas City (8:20pm ET, NBC)

The Colts just took a bad home loss against Oakland, but the Chiefs all of a sudden cannot stop the run, which means they need shootouts to win. Colts to cover, and take the “over”.

Monday, October 7

Cleveland (+4) at San Francisco (8:15pm ET, ESPN)

The Baker Mayfield offense finally looks like it is here — although wideout Jarvis Landry is in the concussion protocol now. San Francisco is 3-0, having won their first two games by a combined 38 points on the road. Then they beat Pittsburgh by four at home. In comes Cleveland as a road underdog after they dismantled a Ravens defense that is better than the Niners’. Give me Cleveland to cover.
