Now it’s Josh Johnson driving the offense, and he led the team to a comeback win last Sunday. This week they head back south to face the Tennessee Titans, who have reeled off three consecutive wins, beating the Jets and Jaguars at home and then shutting out the Giants up in East Rutherford last Sunday. Why should you bet on Washington?

Washington has won four of their last seven games away from FedExField, and Johnson has gotten off to a serviceable start, completing almost 66 percent of his passes and throwing for 346 yards and two touchdowns with one interception. He has only attempted 77 passes since the 2011 season but has looked all right so far. It will be interesting to see how he does against the Titans, who will have had a full game of film to watch for him. Tight end Jordan Reed remains questionable for Washington, but the ground game will remain tough, with Adrian Peterson leading the team with 923 yards and seven scores. The Washington defense has been stingy, permitting just 22.1 points per contest. Washington has played well for bettors in Week 16, covering in the last six games they’ve played at this point on the calendar. Also, the road team has covered in the last five meetings between these two teams. If you like Washington here, you think that their physical defense will slow the Titans down and that Peterson will do enough in the ground game to keep the Titans from keying on Johnson with the pass rush. The hero on offense for the Titans during this streak has been Derrick Henry, who has just 882 yards on the season but who has also had two huge games in the streak. The Titans’ defense remains stingy, permitting only 18.1 points per game, and they should be ready for Josh Johnson. Tennessee has just covered in one of their last six games played on Saturday, but they have covered in seven of their last nine at home and in five of their last six in December. If you like the Titans, you like their momentum on both offense and defense in this streak, and you see them handling a Washington team that is basically relying on a running back and its defense.

Tennessee has won their last two games by a combined score of 47-9. With that said, Jacksonville was playing Cody Kessler at quarterback, and the Giants have been awful for most of the season on offense. I see this game staying close in the first half and then the Titans pulling away after the intermission, with a final score of Tennessee 20, Washington 6.
