The 2018 Singapore GP takes place on the Marina Bay Circuit, a series of streets in Singapore. This is the only nighttime race on the Formula 1 slate, which makes it a unique experience with plenty of chances for the drama to ensue. There are 1,500 halogen lamps that light the roads, forcing many of the drivers to put on tinted visors to improve visibility. Marina Bay has plenty of tricks for drivers, because of the bumpy macadam, the tight turns, and the brief straightaways. That means that some of the slower teams have a shot — as we saw when Daniel Ricciardo for Red Bull put up one of the best times in Friday’s practice session.
The weather could be a challenge as well, as the forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms all weekend long. Even at night, the temperatures can shoot as high as 104 degrees Fahrenheit (40 C). That affects drivers physically, but it also influences tire temperatures and brake heat. Lewis Hamilton (256) is in the lead for the 2018 Drivers’ Championship with 256 points, 30 ahead of Sebastian Vettel (226). Hamilton won this race in 2017 and looks to repeat as the F1 Betting favorite. Take a look at our contender odds and sports betting suggestions for this evening extravaganza.
