2018 Go Bowling at the Glen Odds & Preview

On Sunday afternoon, NBC will broadcast the 2018 Go Bowling at the Glen, a 220.86-mile stock car race at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, New York. This differs from many of the races on the NASCAR schedule because it is held on a 2.45-mile road course instead of a track. The Toyota/Save Mart 350 and the Bank of America Roval 400 are the other two NASCAR races that follow a road course. This race dates all the way back to 1957, when Buck Baker won the initial edition, but the race was not held between 1958 and 1963 or between 1966 and 1985. Martin Truex Jr. won the 2017 edition, but Tony Stewart leads all time with five wins here, most recently in 2009. We’ve put together a NASCAR odds preview for you for this race with some suggestions for your wager cards.

Kyle Busch won a week ago and has finished in the top five in eight of his last nine races. He has two Go Bowling at the Green titles and has finished in the top eight in nine of his last races at Watkins Glen International. In fact, in 13 total races here, he has only missed the top 10 twice. So despite the low value, you have to have him on your card this week. Martin Truex Jr is coming off a disappointing finish last week, but he still has nine top-five finishes in his last 11 starts, and has three wins in his last eight races overall. He has also finished in the top 10 in four of his last seven races at this track — and he is the defending champion, so you should add him to your card as well. Denny Hamlin takes us down the odds sheet a little, because he still has zero wins in 2018, and he doesn’t even crack the top ten very often. However, he came in fourth at Go Bowling at the Green in 2017 and won the whole thing in 2016. He also came in as the runner-up here in 2007, so this is a track that has treated him well overall. So if you want to add some value to your card, consider Hamlin. Brad Keselowski keeps knocking on the door, but he has fallen off the table recently, failing even to make the top 25 in his last two races and three of his last four. However, he has done well at Watkins Glen International, finishing as the runner-up at this race three years in a row (2011-2013), and he has five top-seven finishes in his last seven races here. So he has a solid chance to get to the winner’s circle, and he offers a decent value. Joey Logano is someone else to consider, as he has five top-10 finishes in his last eight starts. He only has one victory since winning the GEICO 500 a year ago. He won here in 2015 and he has five top-seven finishes in his last seven appearances at this track. The value here isn’t huge, but it’s worth a look.
