Seattle at Arizona NFL Lines & Betting Preview for Week 11

Written by on November 7, 2017

The Arizona Cardinals host the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football this week. This NFC West showdown features a Seahawk team that dropped a 17-14 decision to Washington at home last Sunday and a Cardinal team that rode its backup quarterback, Drew Stanton, to a 20-10 win at San Francisco, as the 49ers are still struggling to find their identity on both offense and defense. The Seahawks are 5-3, while the Cardinals are 4-4, and both teams are struggling to stay in contention, looking up at the Los Angeles Rams in the standings. Take a look at our NFL lines preview before you lock in your wager.

Why should you bet on the Seahawks?

The Seattle Seahawks had not lost at home this season, but they had barely escaped in two of them, as they edged lowly San Francisco, 12-9, and outgunned Houston, 41-38. Safety Earl Thomas missed the Washington game with a gimpy hamstring and is questionable for Thursday as well. The weather was awful on Sunday, as a cold, driving rain pelted players for most of the game, but they did take a 14-10 lead with 1:34 left when Russell Wilson found Doug Baldwin for a 30-yard score. Kicker Blair Walsh missed three field goals on the day, and Wilson had two interceptions. All of these factors combined to keep the Seattle offense sputtering most of the day. The Redskins were able to exploit the holes in the Seattle secondary at the end of both halves. Seattle led 2-0 for much of the first half, but then Washington drove for a score. They pulled off another drive down the field in crunch time in the fourth quarter, as Kirk Cousins completed passes to Brian Quick for 31 yards and Josh Doctson for 38, setting the stage for Rob Kelley to score a one-yard touchdown run. The Legion of Boom is losing some of its lustre this season, and if Seattle wants to win at Arizona, they’ll have to get their heads right, particularly if Thomas is out again.

Why should you put your money on the Cardinals?

We thought that San Francisco would pick up their first win of the season against an Arizona team who lost their star tailback (David Johnson) at the start of the season and whose starting quarterback (Carson Palmer) broke his arm and is also expected to miss at least most of the rest of the season. However, in the middle of the week Arizona traded for tailback Adrian Peterson, who had been stuck down the depth chart in New Orleans. He exploded for 159 yards on 37 carries with the Cardinals and kept them afloat in the division. Drew Stanton was good enough on the day, throwing a pair of touchdowns. Are the Cardinals a safe bet in Week 10? The defense was strong for Arizona. They limited San Francisco to 63 yards on the ground. C.J. Beathard went just 24 for 51 for 294 yards, moving the ball up and down the field but stalling when the Niners got near the end zone. If you like Arizona against Seattle, you like the Seahawks showing up on a Thursday night without a lot of interest (as happens when they go on the road sometimes) and the Cardinals taking advantage, pounding Peterson through the Seattle defense.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Seahawks have won four of five, but their only impressive win came at Los Angeles against the Rams back in Week Five. Their defense looks like it’s in a shambles, and their offense looks hesitant. However, I look for them to load the box on Adrian Peterson and make Stanton beat them — and I don’t think that they can. I predict a final score of Seattle 20, Arizona 16.
